Proud new FD owner!

Well i've been waiting a few years and i finally found an FD i can afford. i bought it for $3000 and the body and interior are perfect. I'm originally a Subaru guy so i dont know much about rx-7s besides how the motor works. i just need to know what to look out for.

Its a 93 and i'm doing a manual transmission swap before i can drive it. Can anyone point me in the right direction on a write-up for a transmission swap?

The motor is rebuilt, but the cars been sitting for three years so i dont know what i need to replace just yet. Would the motor be perfectly fine just sitting for a few years?

Any and all information will be great! Thanks guys.

If you are going to let the motor sit for years i would fill the rotor housing with clean engine oil and turn the engine a few turns once a month to lubricate and keep rust away.

Welcome

Welcome to the money pit! Please spend lots of time reading the Frequently asked questions (FAQ) sticky at the top of this forum. There is 'tons' of info there to help you along the way.

https://www.rx7club.com/3rd-generation-specific-1993-2002-16/faq-3rd-gen-other-useful-links-68640/

Before posting a question that has probably been asked a million times (after all this car is over 16 years old), please use the "search this forum" tab before posting. I am confident you will find the info you need if you use the correct search words ie. auto to manual conversion, manual conversion. If you need help using the board...

Once you have tried to help yourself first, members will be more than willing to lend a hand.

Spend lots of time reading!

Again, welcome.

Search my username and auto/manual swap and you should find the info on how to do the auto/manual swap the easiest way possible. You can keep all the auto harnesses and you will need to keep the auto speed sensor from the auto trans and install it in the manual trans in place of the manual speed sensor.

I live in a house of gearheads and racers. One of my roomates races his bike on actual road courses.

Congrats! You got a deal on the best color, IMO.

I see a few little items on that car that are pretty desirable to the rest of us FD owners...starting with those mud guards.

i'm not sure what happen to the R1 wing, but it is waste. you can get some money by selling it out.

I agree. Coulda kept it, if only for the resale value later on. 4 holes in the hatch is uglier than the stock wing.

I'm pretty sure Mazda's not gonna begin making those wings again anytime soon.
