It is a paint/epoxy thiner/solvent that was the primary ingrediant (along with BORON) in the SUPER fuels tha F-1 cars ran prior to the FIA's adoption of a spec fuel - its also known as GETTO RACE GAS - do a search there has been lots of posts about using home brew Toluene/Gasoline mixes in the past.
You can get it for $5-10/gal at most Paint supply places.

I've used this GRF (ghetto race fuel) in my MR2 and it was noticeably quicker.. On another note, how safe is this? What about on a rotary?

oh yeah, i finally picked up my fd 4 days ago! woo hoo!

I don't use use PREMIX at all, I add MMO to my OIL - 1/2 qt with each oil change (@3000mi)
For all you guys planning to remove OMP on STREET motors - it is a BAD Idea the OMP (especially on the 13bREW motors) does a MUCH better job of getting oil to the apex seals and injects oil even during overun closed throttle deacceleration, when the ecu cuts the fuel flow to ZERO. Without the OMP this would also mean NO lubrication to the Apex Seals!

For what its worth Amsoil makes a synthetic 2-cycle oil that acts like a detergent and clean internal metal parts.
Still MMO is an excellent product and I use it on my FD.

that sort of defeats the purpose of using it. fuel has detergents in it. you add the oil to lube what the fuel is *cleaning*

I don't think that's normal, at least not with my experience with premixing.

I don't use MMO (I use Proteck R), but I don't have any extra smoking from the car. Actually I have less during first start. How much did you add to your tank of gas?

What about using a little MMO and 2 cycle oil in the gas tank? Is that bad to mix?

Protek-R is re-labeled Klotz Lube. It says so right on the MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheet). Not sure which TCW3 product it is however.

Add Idemitsu Fuel Lube, made specifically for rotary engines, 1/2 oz per gallon of fuel works for me. 0r, 100:1 ratio.

Phillips 66 makes a lot of private label tc-w3 oils for a lot of folks. Arctic Cat, Ski-Doo have both bought from Phillips allegedly.

Toulene has an octane rating of 119. You can figure your octane improvment by calculating volume of "T" to volume of gas.

10 gal of T@ 119oct= 1190
10 gal of Gas @93= 930

1190
+930= 2120/ 20= 106 oct

i stand by protek r 200% this stuff keeps your motor very well running

just from my experience when comparing mm to protek its like comparing peanut butter with peanuts to smooth peanut butter. simply your preference

there are different effects of both. but from my experience i was able to gain probably 30k more miles when comparing MM to protek.

EG: fd3s owned from day one orig owner i used mm at every fill up. worked great.. motor lasted till 165k before it needed a rebuild.. with EXTRA horse power

when i went with the rebuild i started using the protek stuff because a tuner friend of mine recommended it..needless to say the motor with the same exact mods just some stronger seals lasted to an astounding 180k miles before the rotors started warping bad..

protek r. if you need more info let me know. trust.

I feel like I've posted this a million times by now

MMO is a cleaner, not a lubricant. Don't use it for premix.

Protek-R is an expensive rebadged product, nothing wrong with using it but there are more cost effective ways.

I personally love the idemitsu b/c it's designed specifically for our engine and smokes very little. You can get it from www.rx7.com.

Also, there are 128 oz's in a gallon, so 1/2 an ounce per gallon (*with* a working OMP) is a bit excessive. I'd recommend sticking to 4-6 ounces for a fillup of 18ish gallons.

Klotz has some really nice premixes, they are easily available and more importantly their technical details in full are published.

I never tried the Idemitsu just because having it in my hands I really did not like the texture of it, it felt too diluted and cleaner like to me so I opted for something else, this is supported in a way by their higher published viscosity than most of their competitors. Also, kind of don't like them saying "Special Detergents/Dispersant additives keep your fuel injectors clean to reduce maintenance". Does this mean it is not good? of course not I have not done any measurable testing on it so I cannot say anything. Moreover a company who's sole market for this product is the rotary would naturally make something suited to it so my deduction would tell me it should work great it was just something in my feeling that drew me away from it.

However, I can say that what I am using right now works VERY well and that is Motul 710 start ups are very nice, smell is almost non existant and the car runs silky smooth. I chose it because it can do premix as well as injection so it can work very nicely for all the Sohn OMP users. However, I feel that the downside is that it is rather hard on our plugs and I only say this because gas mileage has been continually decreasing on the 8 and the spark plugs are done after only ~4000km. On the Rx-7 this is not a big deal because plugs are cheap on the 8 though it hurts!

I use Motul also, but the 800 2t. This oil will not separate, once mixed. Even after
8 weeks, there was no separation.
Have been using this oil for 6 years.

iv had a quart of Idemitsu oil waiting on my shelf, that i never used, i just poured some in before a fill up, i took a guess at what 4-6 ounces were since i didn't have anything to measure it.. i used to use Protek-R, but 50 dollars a gallon seems a little pricey.

Yup, Protek-R probably sent someone's kids to college

The idemitsu premix has graduated markings on the side with a transparent sight line to make it pretty easy to measure

No.
MMO is as much a solvent as it is a lubricant. It is not a substitute for pre-mixing with a good ashless 2-cycle oil.
MMO may have some other benefits for our cars, but that's not one of them.
