Profec S NonSequential Boost Control Issue

(Seems I cant close the post from my phone so will do when I get to a computer but Further reading leads me to believe that I need to put a restricter plate in the exhaust and or port the waste gate to solve the issue)

Hi everyone,

I have been looking around in the archives and can’t find an exact solution or way to troubleshoot what is going on.

Put a Midpipe on the car as I don’t have to worry about emissions any more. Car is simplified non sequential at the moment with intake, intercooler & full exhaust and some other mods. I have wideband and richened the map on the pfc.

Have a Greddy Profec S boost controller installed. The wastegate port closest to passenger side goes to com (other side is capped) and turbo port nipple on the inside from the primary turbo goes to the no solenoid port (normally open). I have the boost/vac line going to the controller coming from the firewall side of the UIM that used to Be the switching or egr nipples (The ones right next to the stock map sensor connection).

With all settings and the lowest, Car currently will hold 7 lbs then around 3.5k it will climb to 15 as RPMs go up. Maybe higher but I left off the gas. If I turn off the boost controller it’s the same situation.

So far I have:

Run the car with the boost setting at the lowest setting and tried the gain at low, low medium, medium and high. No change. I did not go through all of the 100s Of clicks though. The manual was less than helpful as it said if you have boost increasing with rpms turn up gain and then if you have too much boost turn in down and then if it was at the lowest setting this would be the lowest boost possible.

I checked the solenoid by running 12v to it and it clicks so I suspect it’s working. I checked the filter on the controller and it’s clean.

i took off the intakes and checked the turbo ports for restricter pills and didn’t see any. Put in a drill bit the size of the opening and went all the way back.

i pressurized the wastegate actuator via the vacuum tube going to the selenium and I visually watched it open.

Been trying to figure this out the entire day and can’t lower & stabilize the boost. Any thoughts or troubleshooting tips would be appreciated.

Non sequential is effectively the same as single turbo with an internal gate. The diagram in the instructions that shows that would the the diagram you would use. I need a picture or diagram to know how yours is set up since I cant really read, but I can write and spell.

Real simple - you need to port your waste gate. The stock waste gate hole can't flow enough to keep up with the full exhaust.

If you have the boost controller off, the only thing that.can raise boost is just the spring in the actuator and the size of the waste gate hole. That's it. Unless you have a rip or tear in the vacuum hose or a leak in the cap you have to seal off the port on the waste gate actuators that points to the driver's side of the car.

Porting the waste gate is not hard, but pulling the turbos to get to it is what sucks.
