profec b air filter necessary or not

hey guys well im in a bit of a pinch. i bought a greddy profec b (old one with *****) from a forum member and i'm going to get my car tuned on saturday by steve kan. when i bought the controller it did not have an air filter because i thought it would be easy to get which i was wrong. getting this thing has to be special ordered and will take 3 weeks. would anything happen if use the controller without the filter? goodfellas told me something about the solenoid going bad or something.

Are you talking about an air filter that goes from the boost source to the profec b "head unit", or a filter that goes from the turbo nipple to the solenoid?

If the former, tap into the hose that feeds the stock map sensor, after its filter.

Its not necessary but definitely recommended. I used mine for a year w/o problems. The issue is that w/o the filter, oil and stuff can get to the controller's brain and screw it up. Use it for now and get tuned and install the filter when it comes in

T-into the filter on the map sensor side, at least then when you get the proper filter it won't be damaged.
