Problems Installing B&M Shifter
Hi, sorry to trouble you all, but I have a problem installing my B&M Short Shifter. It's really hard to get to the top-right bolt. Is there a way to get to it? And what transmission fluid is recommended? And when I seal it back up, where am I supposed to seal? Sorry for all these questions, and thanks in advanced.

hey i had the same problem...what you can do it get a buddy of yours and have him help you...what you want to do is get a bar and have your friend sit in the passenger seat and have him put the bar next to the tranny and pull so the tranny moves to the left alittle...this should be more the enough room for you to get in there and get that sucker out...and remember its going to be hard to get off the stock shifter...and use the atv sealer on the base of the shifter there the tranny meets and the shifter meets...you will see what i mean when u get there...

I used a dremel and notched out the corner, sorta like making 1/2 a circle hole or crescent moon cut or a bite in a hamburger that's bigger then a little kids bite. I made it larger then the head of the bolt. Asfter that, I sanded it well so I didn't get cut.
Someone else mentioned realigning the trans and driveshaft but my way is easier if you don't mind the cut.

Thanks guys! I just moved it to the left and got it out. Haha, I couldn't find where my bushing went but then I found it, all in pieces.. I have to get a new one. I just hope putting the new shifter won't be as hard as taking the stock one out. Thanks again!

make you you repeat the same for installing the B&M since the blue block housing is larger than your stocker. It is going to be a pain getting to that point again.
Also, make sure you use the silicon gasket material on the bottom of the shifter block before putting it on so that you adequatly seal everything up.

not with me, but its mentioned in the instructions. If you go to a auto store it is a squeeze tube and its semi-liquid silicon inside. You use this to create a "gasket" between the top of your tranny and the B&M unit so that fluid doesnt get out and dirt/grime doesnt get in. As far as fluid. I would go get your tranny fluid changed at a reputable shop and have them use Redline synthetic afterwards. You might want to buy a little yourself and dribble some over the shift mechanism before you put the boot over it.
