problems because of runnig synthetic oil

I have done the research and read all the post on this fourm and others and not once have i heard some one say somthing bad has happend because they ran synthetic oil. I have only heard people talking about how the owners manual doesnt sugest it and why ect.

I was on roal purples web site earlyer and saw what they had to say, well see for your self because im not taking sides, http://www.royalpurple.com/techa/faqsa.html#re2

IM NOT TRYING TO START A NEW THREAD ABOUT WHICH OIL IS BETTER, but if you have somthing new to add please do or if you have had somthing happen because of synthetic oils please tell us about it!

Did someone tell you that regular oil was bad? There's nothing wrong with using synthetic oil, but IMO it's overrated not, to mention more expensive to buy. Use the regular stuff, change it every 3 months/3K, and you should have no issues at all.

^ Agreed.

One question though. Does anyone know what the Rx-8 owner's manual says about oil? Thought that would be interesting.

Recommends API SL GL whatever it is and does not mention anything about mineral or synthetics.

The quick reference guide does say NOT to use synthetics, go figure.

FYI:

Premix removed OMP : Use Synthetic

Not premixing and still using OMP : use regular oil

Oil is oil these days; synth or not. Just keep it clean.. no need to sit here and discuss why.

I believe the problem was that the synthetics back in the day did not burn cleanly, thus clogging the catalytic converter. I don't know with the newer synthetics...

ignorant statement, to say the least

if any engine benefits from synthetic oil use, it is a 10% fuel dilution, hgh revving, hot running turbocharged rotary
