Problem with new 93'

Hey everyone,

I just purchased my first RX7 about a week ago. Love the car and it runs great other than the idle. I have been reading a lot online to try to figure out what the problem could be. But as far as I can tell, my problem has one unique thing about it. The car is stock other than a downpipe. It is a 93' with about 68K miles (original engine).

After the car has warmed up it idles at about 1600rpms. This isn't good but seems like a fairly typical idle problem. But the weird thing is, if I push in the clutch and put the car in first gear (without letting the clutch out), the rpm's then begin to bounce around between 700 and 1600. Anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks for you help.

DOORMAN907,

There could be several possibilities. If it only changes when you push in the clutch, it might be the clutch switch. The previous owner may have increased the idle so when the clutch is engaged the car wouldn't drop the RPMs all the way down and stall.
