Problem With My Third Gear.....

Iam having a slight problem with my third gear, about a week ago I was racing a SS and a STI, 1st and 2nd no problem but when I would go to 3rd it would go in and grab, but it would bog out and bring my rpm's to @ 3,000 rmp or so at full throtle. HELP!!!!!

Are you sure you didn't put it into 5th gear inadvertantly? What rpm were you shifting at?

Yeah, you grabbed fifth. If something was wrong with a specific gear in your transmission... it would most definately affect what rpm it brings your engine to (with respect to current speed) Besides 75-80 mph redlining second to fifth would drop to around 3k in 5th ... IIRC.

Transmission problems are usually synchros grinding, or bearing failure. or in a VERY bad case a stripped or broken gear. but the first two are your 99% failures. And neither of those would cause the symptoms you are explaining.
