Problem With My Third Gear.....

Iam having a slight problem with my third gear, about a week ago I was racing a SS and a STI, 1st and 2nd no problem but when I would go to 3rd it would go in and grab, but it would bog out and bring my rpm's to @ 3,000 rmp or so at full throtle. HELP!!!!! :confused: Thank's..........

Are you sure you didn't put it into 5th gear inadvertantly? What rpm were you shifting at?

Yeah, you grabbed fifth. If something was wrong with a specific gear in your transmission... it would most definately affect what rpm it brings your engine to (with respect to current speed) Besides 75-80 mph redlining second to fifth would drop to around 3k in 5th ... IIRC.

Transmission problems are usually synchros grinding, or bearing failure. or in a VERY bad case a stripped or broken gear. but the first two are your 99% failures. And neither of those would cause the symptoms you are explaining.
