Problem with the engine while driving today, need some help

For the first time in about 5 days the weather was under 70, was beautiful out. Perfect weather to put the windows down and enjoy the Rx-7. Except for an engine problem I can’t seen to figure out. Probably has a simple explanation that is just eluding me.

I was driving in 5th gear around 2500 rpm’s for a good 10 minutes today, boosting when necessary to pass people. When my turn came up I went into the turning lane, downshifted (engine braked) until in neutral and sat there for the light to turn green. I get my green arrow and turn, run to about 4,500 in 1st and hear this, “eeeee” sound, so I shift into second and notice I don’t have much power. Boost gauge isn’t going over 0 and when it does it emits this high pitch alarm, almost like the redline alarm. I pull over, pop the hood and can hear the coolant bubbling a lot. So I left it sit for 15 minutes to cool incase it was an overheating (we all know how useless the temp gauge is) then I get back in and drive straight home which was abut 2 miles away. Again, same issue. Doesn’t boost whatsoever and emit’s the alarm.

I must have gotten in the door about 5 minutes ago. I’m going to let it sit for a half hour then unplug the battery for 10 minutes, then plug it back in and see if it was in some sort of limp mode or it overheated or something.

Any ideas?

Car is non-sequential and has a full 3” exhaust (cat blown out).

Are you sure that none if the IC piping blew off... That would explain the lack of boost, and the loud noise might be the turbos spinning as much as the can trying to produce boost. I had that problem once.

Check the hose going to your boost sensor cause it may have popped off. The bubbling coolant isn't unusual with these cars.

Yeah, not a coolant leak. Checked. The oil leak is coming from the front, directly behind the rad. Can't find the source. It's boosting at 4 lbs and the secondary sounds like it's not boosting. Just sounds like it's spinning at a very high rpm. Hardly any power either.

I didnt mean a coolant leak... I mean Intercooler pippes, check all your intake and intercooler piping... Sometimes the rubber connectors crack or slip off and leak. Take all of it apart, check all the connectors carefully and reinstall everything tightly.
