Question Problem??? 3rd gear - engine break - gear lever hopping

I have been experiencing this lately and I do not know if it might indicate trouble so I am asking if someone had any similar experience.

Shifting gears has always been without any problem from when ever I had my RX7. The only strange things happens when I engine break on 3rd gear. If my hand is on the gear lever I can feel it hopping slightli up and down in my hand. More important is that this happens only when the speed is reduced naturally due to the engine breaking. At a high speed, engine breaking in 3rd gear does not result in the gear lever hopping.

Hope to have explained myself well. Any indications or similar experience would be helpful. I will be test driving with my specialist hopefully next week. Since we will be opening up the gear box to replace an oil seal and we will be taking the occasion to check everything out.

I can keep you posted if you want.

It sounds like the diff bushings are worn out or the power plant frame is cracked/broken
if the diff mounts are bad replace them immediatly or you will break the power plant frame pretty quickly(mine broke in only a few thousand miles and NO dumping the clutch)

Don't rule out a bad driver's side engine mount too. When you engine brake the engine torques to the driver's side rather than the passenger side.

I'd be checking engine mounts and diff mounts like the others said.

Talked today to the specilist. Engine mounts can be excluded since when the engine was replaced and reservices they were checked out.

Diff bushings are most suspected. We will be able to see soon. Till now I never left the thing happen for long since I always pushed on the clutch to avoid it.

Thanks a lot guys.
