Unhappy probably gonna sell the 7...

Due to some recent unfortunate circumstances, I will likely be selling my 7. Please tell me what you think it is worth based on the following info:

'93 Brilliant black R1. ~58K miles, fresh Pineapple streetport with all oil mods installed about 4K miles ago. Factory twins operate perfectly. Superior interior, very well maintained exterior. Mods include Power FC, M2 downpipe, Apexi GT-Spec CB, Greddy Airinx intake(polished), silicone vacuum lines, stainless steal braided oil lines, Hyperground, 1300cc injectors, Nippondenso fuel pump, Fluidyne with Evans, polished aluminum AST, polished UIM, LIM, filler neck, water pump housing, pipe from intakes to secondary turbo, alternator, and throttle body. Boost gauge, Apexi auto timer. If I'm forgetting anything it's probably in my sig. Also, the car was recently dyno tuned at the RX-7 Store, and it put down 295 hp to the wheels at 12psi, running a conservative 10.8 A/F. I was told by Zavier at the RX-7 Store however, that the actual rwhp is closer to 315 at the same boost and A/F, considering they found out later the same night that I had my car tuned that the dyno was miscalibrated. The car also has Alpine speakers in all the stock locations, and a top of the line Alpine cd player. The only thing wrong with this car is that the window switch on the passenger door does not function. I have recently spent a lot of money on the engine work and mods, and realize I will be taking a hit, but all reasonable estimations of what this car could sell for are greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

rotor-rooter: correct, no intercooler. this car is perfect for someone who has the cash to throw on an IC, MP, and single if they wish. more opinions on its worth would be greatly appreciated.

I'd say it's worth 20K but realistically if you're asking what you would get, I'd say somewhere in the neighborhood of 16K to 18K. Most people want to start from scratch if they want to modify their cars and to most people, they can see more things they'd rather buy with 20K+ dollars.

if i were o buy it, the most i would give is 19-21 because when you sell to a previous fd owner, they know about all the mods like the engine, oil lines, ect... but when it is a first time buyer, they dont even know how the engine works so the rebuild and other mods dont really count for much in their minds. they might give 16-18. i wish i had the money to buy it!!! i blew my engine and i am in line for a pineapple rebuilt (#30).

good luck seling it and hope this helps

From: Negative Ghost Rider, the pattern is full.
If I were you, I'd pull as many mods off the car as you can and get it as close to stock as possible. That way, you can get more money out of the mods by selling them piecemeal, and you'll have an easier time selling a car that is -mostly- stock.

Having spend too ******* much on my car I would say around 19k-21k....If you had a nice single setup with IC then probably around 23k - 24k.....If I were to do it all over again I would spend more money and buy an already built car. Good luck with the sale.

I would have to agree that it would easier to sell it the closer to stock it is. People that dont know much about cars to begin with are hesitant about buying a highly mod car to begin with and then a rotory on top. I also think that your location will have alot to do with how much it sales for. If can find someone that is intrested in a moded 7 then I guess 23k-25k you have alot of money into it. other wise remove alot of the mods, post them and sale them yourself to recope some. In the NW you could prob get about 18k-20k if its the condition you say with the fresh rebuild and without all the mods. Alot of the FD's up here are hammerd on pretty hard so it hard to find a clean one thats for sale.
I wouldnt just trow a price on it look around your area and see what others are saling for.
Damn man it would break my heart to have to sale my FD. I feel the pain for you. Good luck and dont let someone rape you ether. It may take some time to sale.

Well selling close to stock would mean he might have to re-acquire stock parts again so I'm not so sure it would be worth stripping it down of parts.

As someone who has been parting out 2 FDs for a couple months now, I don't see him getting too much for used aftermarket parts....the depreciation is pretty strong unless you have a lot of time to wait to pawn them off on people willing to pay top dollar which could be a long time.

If he has all the stock pieces to replace his aftermarket stuff, it may be a different story but I still wouldn't bet on it being worthwhile.

The problem with taking off the mods and puting back on the stock parts is this: I dont have a factory cat back, the factory DP was shot, the accordian hoses for the factory airbox were torn, and as far as I know it is highly recommended to run the Power FC with the streetport. If you look at my sig, what is really left that is worth taking off the car?

it sounds like a great car but I wouldn't expect to get any more than $17k for it, realistically speaking

anyone who pays more than 20k for an FD, unless it is a very well sorted single turbo, is a little out of their mind imo....these cars are 10 years old

IMO, I wouldn't take off anything. Sell it as is...

If you aren't in a hurry to sell it, pick your price and see if it sells. If you are in a hurry to sell it, you know you'll have to sell it for a lot less than you want.

If I were you, I would put it up for sale in your local paper and Autotrader for around $20k. See what happens.

I wish more FD owners would hold out for more money on their cars... 10 years old or not, there aren't too many other cars with the same performance level brand new for that price.

t88 - that was my plan when i got this one. i regretted selling my first fd. hopefully i can sort out my "situation" so that i dont need to sell the car. it is not financial in any way, so i am in no hurry to sell the car. hopefully things work out.

I'm on board with that.

As an example of a car going for too little, check out the Silver/Black FD for sale on the forum. 94 touring very nicely modded for only $16.5k asking.
