Primary Turbo Making Noise
Hey guys,
I've spent a few hours researching, but can't quite find my problem. So the other day, while driving on the freeway, I got on the gas, and noticed a loud winding sound coming from the primary turbo. I'v read about the possibility that my compressor is hitting the housing, and I will check for shaft play today.
The turbos have about 30K miles on them, and I have an exhaust, intake and HKS F-Con piggy back. There are a few things that make me think it is something else other than bad turbos:
1) This started completely suddenly. I got on the turbos earlier that day, and it was fine. In the middle of the drive, it started making the noise. I'm also not seeing any less boost than I did before (8 PSI because of a leak somewhere)
2) It doesn't seem like the sound happens under vacuum, but as soon as it gets to positive pressure, the noise starts happening. It gets louder with boost.
Any advice or ideas are greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
-Daniel
