Primary Fuel Rail...it just doesn't look right
Primary Fuel Rail...it just doesn't look right
I purchased a modified primary fuel rail so it would accept 850 injectos. Installed the injectors, then put the rubber seals on the rail, and when I just test fit it, there is a fairly large gap after I put a decent amount of pressure on the rail just with my hand. I realize it isn't going to sit flush because of the seals, but it just looks like it's sitting higher than it should.
The gap just looks huge to me, and I'm just concerned that when I tightened it down that it won't seal properly, like maybe the 2 rubber rings are too big or just the wrong ones.
I just want to make sure is all.

I knew something was missing, just been so long since I took it off I couldn't remember.
So what about the rubber seals, those the correct ones and in the correct place?
....found that spacer. I just put it in the wrong zip lock bag
Thanks guys. Maybe I'll get to drive this thing soon.

Okay, here's another brain buster.....those plastic inserts that go in before the injector that I guess help evenly dispense the fuel after the injector does it's thing, don't those just cause the fuel to "puddle" on it, giving you a less accurate and timely fuel dispension? Is that what they are for, and if so what does everyone here do with them? Keep, toss away?

How many miles are on your diffuser plates?
On customer motors, Ihor and I always replace them with brand new ones. Used ones are brittle, and I've seen a motor blow when one of them broke off and fell inside......
Hell, a while back we were installing a fuel system for someone with a 15 year old original engine, and we took out the old ones to install new diffuser plates. One of the damn things broke, and we had to vacuum out the intake ports. That only *slightly* sucked
With my top feed injectors I'm not running them, and have noticed zero difference in fuel economy, idle quality etc. If anything it's gotten better since I moved from 850cc side feeds to 870cc top feeds

This happened to me on a customers car as well about two years ago, funny thing is trying to clog up all the vacuume hoses intake runners etc. to get full sucking power
And +1 on not using them on top feed injectors. Though I have used the base of them as a "spacer" before.

Those little plastic fuel dispersing thingys, I have 2 different types...one is flat on the bottom with tiny little holes in it, and the other has a solid bottom but is tappered. Who goes where as far as if one is for primary and one secondary, and why are they different?
