Price to sell a blown rx7?

Hey guys um i would like to get your guys input.
I recently blew up the motor on my 94' rx7. And I am in no shape of being able to fix it so I'm forced to sell . Car has 60k, in perfect shape and took great care of it. What would I be looking to get out of it? Thanks

Probably around $5k-$6k depending on what shape it's in.

Well that kind of car can fetch $15k with a good motor, so subtract at least $5k for the motor, and another $2-3k if you blew an apex seal and toasted the turbos too.

If "perfect" means really perfect. All plastics intact, no scratches anywhere, new suspension, everything works as it should, no mods, clear title then.. 10+ should be good price. I would pay this money personally for car like that if I needed to buy one.

After buying "nice" car with new motor - I can tell that blown motor is not a bad deal compare to other expenses this cars require...

I'm with Katit, if it really is "perfect" (which I question since you can't afford a new motor), you could probably get $10-11k for it.

However, I'm also with the other guys that if it has lots of small niggling issues (like most 60k mile FDs), I think $7-8k is a lot more realistic. Better to drop a reman in as far as resale values goes.

Realistically? The car has no value. The ONLY people that are even going to consider purchasing this car are the FD cognoscenti who KNOW exactly what it would take to get it running again. A non-running car is worthless to anyone that is not specifically after a project car.
I've always been on a quest to find a restorable Jaguar XKE. Several years ago I found a 1964 Series I, it was in surprisingly good shape on the interior and exterior, good seals in the windows and doors, VERY little rust, etc. But the engine was not running, supposedly "just a blown head gasket". The car hadn't run for something like 10 years. So anyway, being a Jaguar nut I started doing the figures in my head:
$3K for cylinder head work
$5K to rebuild the bottom end
$2K for new exhaust
$2K for miscellaneous wiring, hoses, etc.

So about $12K plus the $20K asking price for the car would have gotten me into my Jag. Not too bad, right? But then I KNEW that I would have wanted to totally fix the body and repaint and all that, and the funds just never would have been there for what I REALLY wanted.
The LOGIC says, "Okay....this car is worth $100,000+ in Concourse condition. I can spend less than HALF that and really turn a profit, if I wanted to."
But reality and logic sometimes don't agree....lol.
Point is, I would spend $50K on a working Jag, something I could hop in and drive NOW, instead of $20K on a car that needed work.
Same idea with this FD, or any other non-working car.
Their value just goes to ****.

I'm sure it's not perfect. If it was perfect - rebuild would not be a question. And person that have this car would not be asking how much he should ask...

Currently I'm working on suspension, brakes and little stuff inside in my car. Looks like this stuff alone will cost me 3k+. Looking at "for sale" ads - cars like mine considered "excellent" condition. lol.

Yeah. 6-7-8 is what he going to get.

I purchased my first 93 FD with a blown engine and reliability mods (SMIC, PFC, Dp, Exhaust, Konis, Fluidyne, Atihun/MS vented hood), new paint and good interior for $9k. Mileage was about 120k. This was about 5 years ago.

With low mileage like yours and the better interior of the 94, I'd say you can get better than $9k. A lot of it depends on overall condition of the car besides the motor. I was able to get a motor rebuild and new clutch installed for ~$4k. I wound up selling it 2 years later for $15k.
