Price Request: 93 CYM, 52k miles (low compression), 99 turbos, etc
Hey all -
Wanted to pick the communities brain about how much my car might be worth. My research doesn't show many CYM's with so few miles for sale in the recent past, so I wanted to get a sense of whether I should sell or hold...
Long story short, we possibly have some unforeseen expenses coming up that will suck up the money I planned to use to get a new motor. As such, I'm thinking of passing this gem on to another owner who can really drive her as she's meant to be driven.
Here are the specs:
- 93 CYM
- 52k Miles
- Body 9/10 (a few small chips, no dings, faded rear hatch)
- Interior: 10/10 (no wear on the seats, no scratches, JDM Ashtray, etc)
- Engine: Low compression (mid-70's), 99 Turbo's (10-8-10), Efini Y, DP, RB Catback, Alum AST, Silicone Hoses, Boost Gauge, Water Temp Gauge.
- Suspension: Fine
- Brakes: Drilled/Slotted rotors
- Oil & fluids just changed
- Tires have plenty of tread
- Misc: Nice stereo system (CD, JLW7 I think, JBL speakers)
- Title in Hand (owned outright)
Again - no idea what she's worth, and no recent pics, but imagine a low mileage, close to immaculate CYM with some modest performance upgrades, almost all reliability mods, and in need of a rebuild.
I'm looking for:
- Suggested Value for a non-Fritz buyer :-)
- Keep and let her sit or Sell & come back later!

Keep it u will never get what she is worth. If it was my car I would not sell it les than $16K. At that price it will never sell. If you wanted to sell it the best you would do is $10-11K. That would be my guess.
^ I agree...Id pay around 10k for the car. But i think that is no where near what it is worth. I think cym's and 94-95 black R2's are going to be the cars worth the most money in 10 years.

$10-12k more than likely.
If it runs well enough to drive, but just has low compression, I could see someone paying $12k or more. If you drop a new motor in it you're looking at $18k or so if it's in as good of shape as you say it is.
If you were around $10k I'd probably come get it this weekend

If the flippers will pay 10k I'd say someone keeping it will likely give you 14k but it could take a long time to sell.
I'd be very surprised if it sold for 18k with a healthy motor so guys flipping would loose both money and time if they were selling fast at say 17k after the engine was fixed.
So if you want it gone fast sell it to Jonathan but if you don't need the money and it doesn't sound like you do I'd list it at 15k (might get lucky) and save up for the rebuild.
