Pretty sure blown apex seal

So blew something for sure sounds like a yfz 450 I am wonder if I will do further damage driving the car to and from work. I'm sure it needs a housing and rotor by now

It makes enough compression to start, maybe a side seal if you're lucky :p

What were the circumstances when "it blew"? Checked things like the boost sensor line? Compression check?

I would avoid driving the car because it if the seal breaks further and dislodges, you can do more internal damage than may already be done.
EGTs on the blown rotor will also get super high if you drive it. I would start with a compression test and go from there.

Please explain this. I was of the view and experience that a blown rotor would cause lower egts on that runner.

It depends how blown it is. Remember fuel will still be injected in the rotor unless you unplug the injectors or something. On a badly blown motor there won't be enough compression for the fuel to combust, so it will pool in that rotor then dump into the exhaust where it will ignite. This is why a blown motor will tend to glow the exhaust manifold runner on the blown chamber.

If its not too blown and nothing is glowing, you could drive it but gas mileage will be horrible and I really don't recommend it unless you are just trying to limp it to a shop.
