All Power FC's are 16 bit, it's only our stock ECU's in the US-imported FD's that are 8-bit. The only difference between the Power FC's made for the 91-95's and the 96-98/99-00 versions is the harness and a few missing components (mostly environmental controls, i.e. no EGR).
As long as the stock number of the power fc is 414-Z004 you'll be ok.

I'm sorry wha?
I want to get that laptop hook up component, it looks really nice, and it seems it would be a lot easier to work with. plus you can just take your laptop out and have a well hidden ecu again!

I am in the market, but also getting a GT 35R for the car and will have funds shortly (About a month)
I will need on as I don't think I can run a GT35 with an upgraded fuel system, exhaust without one (Yes I know I can't). Let me know when we think the funds will be necessary??
Thanks
David

I noticed you mentioned a group buy on them, I might beable to get you a better price on them without a group buy, what kind of price are you looking at right now?. Alot of Japanese companies do not like to do group buys, but I will check with my friend and see what he can do.

I might also be interested but won't have the funds for about a month either, depending on the final price. If the group buy doesn't get a heavy discount I'll probably just wait to buy it on my own.

Update
Shipping is down to 40 per unit for 10+ units.
For those of you who want in, please message me soon. I want to place the order by the end of next week so for those of you scrounging for cash find it soon!
He said that shipping is by weight so it doesnt make a difference if he ships it in bulk.

To clear up the confusion about ECU's and bits -
Our *stock* ECU in the '93-95 cars are 8-bit. In Japan, they did a model update in '96 and another in '99 - one of the things they did in the '96 update is upgrade the processor to 16-bit. In Japan, that's one of the ways they refer to the early *stock* ECU - as the 8-bit version.
ALL PowerFC's use 16-bit processors. The "8-bit version" is simply a PowerFC that works on the older cars that came with an 8-bit processor.
Apexi Japan has been doing a deal for a while now where you get a free commander when you buy a PowerFC - that's why the price from Japan is so good. I'm not sure why Apexi USA hasn't offered this deal. There's been some speculation that the PowerFC is due for a replacement - the computer is fine, but the commander sure could use an update .
They do have a new computer in Japan - the P-NBC:
http://original-parts.apexera.co.jp/...cs/P-NBC1.html
From what I can gather, it's a piggyback VERY similar to the Greddy E-manage that has a lot of advanced features, you can hook up a laptop, etc. But, from what I can gather it looks primarily targetted at Subarus, with no other application listed. I believe some of the newer Subies rely heavily on the stock ECU for many functions, so a piggyback makes sense - same case with the RX-8.
BTW, Apexi Japan seems to be changing their name to Apexera. Dunno if that change will eventually hop the Pacific. Helluva lot easier name, though .

I bought mine from him during the "Christmas special" he said that they won't be shipped out til after the first of the year so I had to wait a little over a month. But none the less, I got it fairly quickly after he shipped it. I paid $855 shipped. After you order it he will send you an E-mail asking you what model/year your car is. That is how he gets the correct one for your car.

Update:
A forum member contacted me after posting this thread about the possibilty of getting it for even less from another japanese distributor. So far it looks like we might be able to get it for even less than the JPS set shipped. I'm waiting for confirmation of the final price before I post anything but I guarantee that it will be less than 850 shipped.
Once again, I need a few more people to get in on this. We can only get the discount if we purchase at least 10 units.

I bought one from them and it took a while to get but it is exactly as advertised. brand new with warranty card in japanese of course and cheap as hell. Big down fall took over a month to get. Other than that great people to deal with. I paid 895.00 with shipping I think.

hey guys,
sorry i've been outta town for a while and I also blew an apex seal a few days ago =( hurray!!
i had 100.6k miles on the stock engine when it finally gave. it wasn't unexpected as I had started to have a lumpy idle and very weak low end torque before it finally gave. the car still runs but very poorly and unpredictable. I can't afford to fix it now so I'm probably gonna store it for six months until I have the money.
For those of you still interested in getting the power fc, contact eyecandy. He was able to find a lower price than what I was able to get from JPS.

ps. if anybody has a rebuilt engine for sale, contact me
