Power steering pulley replacement
I've read about people having problems with the nut being frozen on the stud, and problems where the pulley will be stuck on there. But when I try to tighten to loosen the nut, the pulley does not rotate, and the nut and stud rotate together. Is this what most people experience? I will try it with my friend's impact gun once I get a replacement pulley.
Also, when the steering wheel is held and full lock, the pulley continues to turn while the nut and stud both stop. I don't know a lot about the pulley system, but I imagine that's not supposed to happen
I can tell the pulley is loose when the steering wheel is turned. It also makes a rattling noise during idle, and gets louder as the wheel is turned. It also starts to make a bit of a screeching noise. It's coming from the PS pulley, and not the idler pulley.
Do you guys think just replacing my PS pulley + bearing will fix my problems, or might I have to do the idler pulley as well?
A local Mazda dealer quoted me about $85 for the PS pulley w/bearing, and $60 for the idler pulley w/bearing. The PS pulley price seems right. I believe I saw someone say they got an idler pulley w/bearing from a general autoparts store for ~$30.
Thanks in advance

There is an aluminum made PS pulley you can get... Kinda pricey (170) just for the pulley. I wanna get it too because I broke the old one. Now, I'm just looking for better deal than 170. If there is anyone that knows a good place to buy , please let me know.
Thanks

Pettit has two options for a little under $170:
