Power steering electrical modification to amount of assist?
I have searched and read all over the internet and cannot find any info on adjusting a speed sensitive power steering system. I imagine the ecu will send some speed signal to the pump somehow so in order to lessen the powere assist we should be able to install some adjustable resistors or something to change the speed signal and alter the assist. Or is our system purely mechanically adjusted? If that is the case how can we adjust that? I don't want to remove the power assist just lessen it. Someone must have an idea how to do this, someone has figured out a way to linearize the stock temp guage so this can't be much harder. Any ideas or info is greatly appreciated.

The only wire going to the power steering pump is a "load" sensor, in other words it signals the ECU to raise the idle cause the pump is being worked. The pump is "speed sensing" through mechanical means.

Really? The FC's had real speed-sensitive power steering - assist would decrease as speed went up, it actually changed the valving to alter the hydraulic pressure at the pump.
I need to read up on the FD's system.

The FD does have a speed sensitive steering system but it is done mechanically through the pump. The single wire going to the ps pump has nothing to do with the speed sensitivity, it's merely a "stupid" switch that senses load and informs the ecu to step up idle rpm to prevent stalling just as mazpower said.
