power stearing or no power strearing

i am picking up my new fd on wednesday or thursday. The guy i am buying it from says that he has removed the power stearing. I haven't driven it yet but i will probably change it back to power stearing. What are your opinions.

If it will be a daily driver, put power steering in it. If you will be at the track most of the time, don't put power steering in it.

I have mine off and DD it. The car is NOT hard to drive with no power steering. It is also much easier to steer with the entire unit off. Just removing the belt is not going to give you an accurite feeling, it is way heavier.

I think its easy, and im 145 lbs...with 255's up front and 285's in the rear. Try it out, its not too bad.

Its a pain in the *** when driving real slow or parking. It can honestly build some upperbody strength.

i dd a 240z which is just 200 lbs or so lighter and that has no power and you can really feel the road. After awhile you dont even notice. I even have a really small grant steering wheel and it doesn't bother me and I am a 17 year old kid.

What exactly are the pros of taking it off? I would assume less overall stress on the engine. How long would it take to put it back on?

I dont know much about these systems in general, but would it be possible or beneficial to make a custom power steering system with an electric pump instead of pulley driven? Pros and cons to that?
