Power FC and Exhaust warning light

Hey, in my other thread I was talking about how my car has no spark... and I noticed since it hasnt had spark for a few months now, and I checked power to coils and power going to ignitor and loads of other crap. Everything seems connected.

But everytime I go to recheck spark after I fiddle with something, my ehxuast warning light goes off and buzzes at me when I put the key in. I do have a Power FC.

I was looking through the forum, and I noticed that the Power FC uses that as a CEL or something to that fact. Is this true? I DO NOT have a commander, so I cant really check it. Ive been looking to buy one, but cannot find one without the PFC coming with it too.

Yes, the PFC uses the EWL as the CEL. The commander may, but only may, help you find the electrical gremlin. Do the basic stuff (fuses, search, etc) and maybe check the two crank angle sensor connectors (white ones behind main pulley). No fun to get to them, so do those lastly.

The exhaust temp light does sort of act as a CEL for the PFC. However, it is normal for it to light when you first turn the key, similar to any other warning lamp to let you know that the bulb is still good. If it stays on when the car is running then you have a bad sensor somewhere. You need the commander to navigate to the check sensor page so you can see which sensor is bad. Try to find someone near you who has one they will let you borrow. Post in your local forum here on the board, there are a lot of sevens in FL. My guess is you have a wire loose or a bad connection with the pfc, or it could be the clutch switch. Can you give us some more info?

More info... Sure!

Well I knocked the vac hose off my map sensor, and didnt notice till the next day. By then it didnt start. So figured it was flooded. So went to unflood it, pulled plugs blah blah, got all that excess fuel out, and tryed again. Nothing. So then I tryed unflooding it again. Did it about 15 or 16 times. Still didnt start. So I checked to see if it had fuel. Shot starter fluid in. Nothing. Checked compression. Was low like 50's so I figured the fuel broke down my oil seal. Shot some MMO in there got it up to around 70. I figured that would be good enough. Didnt start. So then I checked spark, and nothing!.

I followed pretty much every wire. Cept for the ones at the CAS. Seeing they are a PITA to get too.

I really think its my ignitor, but its like 500 bucks. So I want to be 100% sure. I checked power going to the ignitor from the coils, and every coil is sending it power. So only other thing is maybe the ignitor isnt collapsing the primary. Seeing that the coils have power. Now if I had a commander, would I beable to see if the ignitor is shot? Cus the exhaust warning light never buzzed at me b4. Maybe it dectects the ignitor is dead, or a loose connection to the CAS?
They are the only things in my mind that could be causing this.

Im thinking maybe I knocked something loose when unflooding, but I cant find a darn thing loose. Plus the ignitor is getting power to it. I wish I could test it. But I dont have that tester. I did test the wires going from the computer to the ignitor and only got 3.5V. Is that normal? iluvmyrx7 doesnt really have specs for it.

so the engine is turning over, just not starting? I read in another thread that the ignitor has nothing to do with starting the car. You've checked all of the fuses right?

Its turning over fine. Every fuse I checked was fine, and I even ohmed a few. I was checking the EGI Relay, but everytime I tryed to ohm it, it would read like 150 ohms and then read overlimits. Im gonna change it out next chance I get. I did put another relay in there, but it wasnt the same. Still no spark either way


So ignitor has nothing to do with starting the car? Hmm. Well I hope so.

The car was in PERFECT running order before all of this.

well, my bad. i just reviewed the service manual and the igniter is listed as something to check. i have not heard of one of these going bad though. i have never heard a buzzer with the exhaust temp light either. looks like a quick easy job with the igniter, but hate for you to spend the cash. checking it requires a SST from mazda according to the manual.

and that one...looks like that guy went months without finding it. you might pm this mad7tist character. he seems to know what is going on and he is in FL (tampa). maybe for a brew or two he would come by and take a look?
