Power FC -- boost control?

I have been looking into getting a Power FC and have just two questions on the functions available?

1. I have been reading about the features and it looks like the Power FC comes with a boost control function. I do not have a boost controller at the moment, if I get the Power FC will that serve as boost controller, or do I have to still get one?

2. Since I can pick up a Power FC from Japan for aprox $650 (Ebay), can I change the language back to English? Or, should i spend the extra and get the Eglish version?

You can buy and install the Japanese eBay PFC without a problem, I did. Only the instructions (and advanced settings) are in Japanese the rest is in English.. ..and you are not required to use a separate boost controller.

I am still new at all of this fd stuff but i have talked to a number of people that know alot about these cars and i had the same question about the fc and boost controler. It does have a boost controler on it but from what i have heard it isnt the best thing to regulate the boost. It will do the job but i have been advised to buy another boost controler to regulate it better...... as for buying it i have heard that the japan way is the thing to do but i dont know about changing the language.

Careful because some of those japanese pfc's don't work with the U.S wireing harness. The PFC controls boost on the stock solenoids. Its not the best thing to use to control boost.

I have heard many times that the pfc is not that good at boost control. However, I have been using it for several months with very good results. I suspect the powerfc boost control is harder for people to use since it is not well documented. Once you understand the control parameters and how they apply to your car, it is easy to configure it for accurate boost control. I would at least try to use it before you buy an aftermarket controller.

1.Yes it comes with a boost control system within the unit, the power fc can serve as a boost controller.

2. dhcernese stated that everything is in english but the advanced settings

3. make sure you are ordering the correct power fc version and your all set to go pretty much plug and play!

1. What are the advanced settings, I am going to need to be able to tune this thig, and i will most likely need those?

2. Will the Boost Controler still work with a single turbo?

You probably won't be tuning much using the PFC commander.. ..I only say this because there's software out there that does better. However, if you do, first find the damn manual, it would answer some of your questions. Do a search for something like fc_commander_fd3s.pdf or variations of that. It will have a section on boost, it will also show you the one or two screens that have japanese characters on them (even in the english version, so it's probably not specific to the one you buy direct from the guy in China off eBay). They are things like rev limit, idle RPMs, sequential turbo mode, and a couple others I forget. The menus are in english sometimes and the values in japanese:

In a nutshell, RTFM.. ..which is on the internet somewhere.
