Powdercoating PPF

My current PPF is free of cracks but has been neglected and is rusty. Ultimately I'd like to take it in to be powdercoated but i had a question regarding the seam sealer that is on the back side. I assume the powdercoater will have to remove the seam sealer. Does it need to be replaced? Would the PPF buzz, vibrate or tranmit more noise without it, or is the purpose just to keep water out of the seams?
