Possibly Buying 93 RX7, 49k miles... advice please.
I really don't know too much about the RX7, but it sure looks cool and has got some nice power to back it up.
I saw an ad for a 93 with 49k miles. It's got the touring package and it's a 5 speed of course.
I am worried however about the rotarty engine, as most of the ads I saw had rebuilt engines?? Also, I'm 6'2, 240 lbs, I am wondering if I will be able to fit int he RX7. I heard it it fairly short on headroom and it also doesn't have a tilt wheel?
Also, what is the going rate for a 93 with 49k miles? Edmunds and KBB put it in around 13-14k...
A little bit about me, I just sold my 2001 GTI VR6 which was heavily modified, and I am looking for something less expensive, which brought me to the RX7. I am also considering a 95.5 Audi S6, total sleeper sedan.
Thanks in advance!

Please use the search feature. There have been many people with the same questions that were asked in the past. Please use the search feature that is what it is there for and a lot of the members don't like responding to the same questions over and over again.
Thank you

Like snowman said, this question is asked fairly frequently and there is a lot of good advice and info in previous posts. Check this link out https://www.rx7club.com/forum/showth...threadid=68640 . Read this and then you can ask more specific questions that will get you further in your search for a FD. You should edit your post before some of the other members read it. They're not as nice.

honestly if you don't know too much about the car I really wouldn't suggest buying one untill after you have researched it. I don't mean to discurage you but I researched for 2+years and it was still overwhelming to me when I first got the car. There are some very good pages out there, I printed all the buying info. out on them along with reading them basically completely. I used to have the links on my computer but they are gone now. Perhaps another member on the forum can give you the links. The "ligthning in a world of thunder" one and "seven deadly sins" page is good too. Geeze I am looking through all my info. and there is at least 50 pages here. Oh here is another good one entitled "93-95 RX-7 buyers guide"

I think I might have to pass... this is more of an emotional buy rather than a smart buy.
Thanks all. I woluld delete the thread if I could, so maybe someone can take care of that for me?

You may have a problem fitting if the car has a sunroof. I'm 6'3 180 lbs and it is just that I can fit in it with a helmet. Also keep in mind that they do not have tilt steering. That can get tricky for entering and exiting.

wow that was the fastest I think you people have ever scared a wannabe rx7 owner away!!
*****
try a geo metro that is a sleeper too
what the hell did you want from the car you said you don't know anything about it and then you don't think it is a smart choice??
there should be standards that future fd owners have to pass to be able to purchase the car and standards that they have to maintain while owning a fd.

We're not trying to be mean, or discourage you from buying a 7, they are great cars. It's just that we get a lot of the same questions asked over and over again and for the people that have been here for years, not me obviously, it is annoying to try and answer them over and over again. And by all means don't not by a 7 because some people on this forum are discourging, not trying to point anyone out or start a fight. The thing that people don't relize is all 7s need to run well is maintenence. And not even hard maintenece just changing oil, and the other fluids in the car, which in the long run will save you a motor. This is a really great article by Pettit, that would also benefit most to all members on this site. Here is the link www.pettitracing.com/Frameset.html this should give you some great maintenence tips and should show you that buying a 7 means you have to buy one with a rebuilt motor or have a rebuild. Thanks for your intrest in my respect the greatest production car ever made.
