possible to weld muffler back on?

So my Racing Beat single exhaust decided to pop loose (from rust). The flanges where the mid pipe and the muffler section meet are still in tact. It has broken off just past the flange on the muffler side. (the short short run between actual muffler and the flange).

Is it possible for an exhaust shop to reattach this or should I go somewhere else?

Pauli

Any exhaust shop should be able to take care of that.

why dont you just ask an exhaust shop. oh, and maintain your car better. rusted out mufflers falling off is ghetto.

what the hell.. how are you going to judge me for this?

the muffler was meticulously taken care of.. the exhaust finally chewed through and the streets of indianapolis suck. The car itself is in pretty decent condition, sir.

I'd just make sure it's worth spending money on - if it rusted off in one place, other areas may not be far behind. Give it a good look-over (tap it lightly with a hammer, etc., any place that looks at all questionable, and make sure it sounds and feels solid) before you throw good money away.

In case you hadn't noticed, you don't have something we call winter. Or road salt.

Actually, the RB muffler will rust just due to exhaust heat and condensation. I think the welding leaves a heat-affected zone that is no longer corrosion resistant.
