Is this possible? Turbos Leak Oil?

Greetings all,

I recently purchased a 93 FD, and while it drives great and was well worth the money, I have noticed some oil being leaked.

I knew before buying it that the Oil Sending Unit was messed, and would need to be replaced.

The engine had been rebuilt not too long ago, but the car sat for a long while (over a year), and I want to be sure that nothing else is wrong.

A friend of mine was telling me that the Turbos could be leaking oil, which I wanted to confirm was possible. When I drive the car the turbos engage and the car takes off, but I want to have the car fixed up so rid myself of this leaking proble,

So if anyone could state if this is in fact possible, that being the turbos leak, and suggest replacement turbos, (currently they are 99 spec turbos), either they be stock, 99 spec, or alternative. The car is running Sequential system at the moment, and works.

Thanks.

Leaking oil where? Yes, it's possible in a number of places.

The oil return gaskets can leak. This just makes a mess under the car. That's an easy fix if you have a 1/4" drive swivel 10mm and extension. The gaskets are cheap from mazda.

The compressor seal can leak throwing oil down the intercooler and intake. From the turbo rebuilder I've talked to it's fairly uncommon and doesn't happen unless the carbon seal has cracked.

The turbine seal can leak. Once these are blowing oil down the exhaust, people have a hard time getting a new seal to work. Reason being that the seal isn't the only thing that can wear. Sometimes the groove that the seal rides in on the shaft wears out as well.

Oh, and when they put on the 99 spec turbos... if they didn't use new crush washers for the oil feed lines or re-anneal them, they could be seeping oil.

my FD was leaking realy bad and after taking the turbos out i realized that who ever rebuilt the those turbos didn`t put crush rings so the oil feed lines where leaking down the turbo body`s and causing a large amount of engine bay smoke

ya i have the same problem. i have a really small oil leak and im thinking its coming from the turbos. theres oil all over the engine brace under neith, i took a power washer and sprayed it all off and about 3 days later it was dripping out again,

P.S. this car hasent been driven in about 7 years and i started working on it about 3-4 months ago.
