Is it possible to remove the air pipe to the main cat without dropping the tranny?
I was thinking about cutting it, but I'm worried that if I cut it I still won't be able to get out the part that goes over the tranny. Has anybody tried this with any success? I looked in the FSM and the it shows the hard pipe having a rubber hose coupling just before the pipe crosses over the tranny, but mine doesn't have that coupling; it is just one whole metal pipe.
Seriously, there is no rubber part. If you are talking about the small 90 degree rubber hose that connects the pipe to the check valve, then yes I have that. However, in the FSM it shows a second small rubber piece that my pipe doesn't have. I immagine that small rubber piece allows you to remove that pipe without cutting it or dropping the tranny. Check out page F-113 of the FSM. Someone please tell me I'm not crazy.
Remove the cat and then remove the tube if you can not get to it . Removing the trans is overkill . Remove the down pipe to get to the other end , so you can put the a block off plate there if needed . You must have big hands .
I took the cat off to gut it, and I took the pre-cat off to install a DP. I've already blocked off my ACV and eliminated my airpump. I just wanted to get rid of the pipe in case it rattled around or something. I have it moving freely, but can't get it around the f*&%ing tranny.
*deep breaths*
I guess I'll just leave the pipe and reattach it to my now gutted cat, before it outsmarts me any longer.

You should be able to slide it out the bottom, just keep wiggling it around, twisting it as you go. I've taken mine off and a friends...both without even thinking dropping the tranny would be needed. Or, if you have all that off, try sliding it up and out the top.

Tim,
They must have been manual transmissions or something, because there is no way in hell that thing is coming out of my car. I can pull it into the engine bay almost all the way out, but it gets wedged between the tranny and firewall within the last foot or so.
