Popular Parts You Dislike

So, I thought it would be interesting to start a thread on popular parts that you dislike. Guess I will start it off, these are just my opinions. No particular order.

1. 99 spec front bumper. Makes the fd look like its smiling, I don't understand the obsession with it, other than I guess those who need a front license plate holder.

2. r -magic head lights- Poor light quality, ugly screws that hold plexi glass in, maybe it photographs better than it actually looks in real life.

3. MS A-Spec Front Bumper - Just not into the initial d scene or the front bumper at all, doesn't flow with the car and its impossible to match aero with it.

4. Any GT wing that is on a non-track car.

5. Stock wing, 99 spec wing, efini bowl wing.

6. re-amemiya street diffuser

7. front bumper canards

8. any LEDs on the turn signals

9. Rivets, anywhere on the car. Huge pet peeve of mine, makes the car look tacky.

10. Feed hood

11. Non-painted carbon fiber hatches

I could go on and on but I think that is enough for now.

any aftermarket bumper that does not have a front mount makes the front of the car look like a huge empty space and i hate that. i also dislike the audi style leds

of course i mean these things as parts that i dislike for my own car...there are many guys that have these parts and their cars are master pieces

1) non-pop up headlights
2) guys that do beautiful wide body kits...and then have terrible wheel fitment and/or cheapy 1 piece wheels, it just kills the whole car
3) like joe said - piston swaps
4) most aftermarket mirrors
5) bass systems in the trunk
6) FD builds in general for drag racing purposes, imho the car was built and designed to go around corners
7) and again cheap wheels and bad wheel fitment lol

im sure theres more...love the thread Bryan

- Any body kit you can find (except the Brunout that, in my opinion, is the only option if you want a Bodykit)
- Cheap wheels with bad fitment
- painted interior (like flashy red or blue or something other than black... on the gauge bezel/hood/radio etc)
- Cheap *** Ebay tail lights/Head light
- Big sound system with TV's and Xbox/PS (WTF guys it's an FD not a ******* Caddy or Civic)

Ok I thinks it's ok for now :p

But you have the right to do what you want on your own car

- C west front end
- Volk GT-C's (not FD only, but I dislike them)
- Non popups, (all of them, pop ups look so much cleaner when down)
- Any body kit that ***** with smooth stock lines,
- RE-A square diffuser
- anything tacky, not to be confused with accents....
- Chrome
- unpainted CF hoods, hatches mirrors, unless it matches/hard to notice, like CF and black,

I'm very icy about what I think looks good...

SACRILEGE!!!

Actually I kind of agree with you. The car definitely looks happy with the 99 spec on. I really liked the 99 spec bumper before I noticed that in some pictures a while back. I think I even posted some pics comparing a fish and the front of a 99 spec FD that looked very similar.

I have one to add.
Exterior pieces that aren't molded in. I hate seeing rivets.

+1 for '99 spec bumpers, makes the car look like a Pokemon

What I really hate are HKS "super" induction kits. A glorified bit of bath sponge in a plastic watering can spout with some silicone joiners. It costs like two months wages and works really really badly since as soon as it gets dirty the turbo starts sucking the sponge away from the edges of the cage and small rocks, grit, gerbils, etc gets sucked right into the turbo. Worst thought out, most overpriced bit of non-design ever

Scoot Hood - Way too busy...GOT VENTS?!
Burnout front bumper - just plain ugly imo.
GT wings on non-track cars
Fortune kit - Just not to my taste.
Mazdaspeed R-spec, 15th anniversary & A-spec kits - Especially the fender add-ons and rear end of the R-spec.
Vortex roof generators
Big sound systems in FDs
Lexus lights
Anything but pop-ups as front lights - Makes the front too busy in the day time (front bumper Dependant).
Standard wing mirrors - They just look out of place to me, makes the car look dated.
'99 rear spoiler mounts - Do you really need the massive ugly part that attaches to the trunk?
***** shift ***** - No explanation needed.....
Chargespeed kit - Not a fan of making an FD look fat & giving it sharp edges.
Any Veilside kit.

Hmm...That's all for now

I think the obsession with the 99 is oem fitment and urethene. The stock bumper lights are dated and the stock bumper is restrictive in terms of air flow.

My fav was the old school pfs bumper. Not too busy but opened the front up a good bit.

Having more than 2 aftermarket gauges, I actually hate having any but some of them are necesary.

Aftermarket exhaust...they all look the same. The only options is to get a n RB (it looks like the stock one), go "JDM" and pay a bit more for the same look but different material or go custom.

Big rear diffuser. I do tolarate the RE Street diffuser but all other large one I can't stand them. They remind me of a street sweeper

2.cheap hid kits
3.hella flush
4.gt wings on street cars
5.a good number of kits
6.unnecessary amounts of audio/video components in a car that's supposed to be lean and trimmed of excess junk
7. 99 spec wing and stock s6 wing
8. oem 99 spec front (do like plateless one, however if the state requires front plates then of course 99 spec is coo)
9. 20" rims or bigger (seen it)
10. large n1 style mufflers
11. re diffuser (not the street one)
12. those taillight covers that have the three circle cutouts on each side
13. piston swaps
14. rhd fanatics
15. front mount intercoolers
16. the game

1. Spririt R and RZ Recaros. They are lame, overpriced, and old. Sorry 8-12 yr old seats are not worth it.
2. Apexi dual N1 and St. Mays exhausts. Don't care how they sound or flow, they are ugly as sin.
3. Burnout kit
4. Nardi deep corn steering wheels.
5. Spirit R brakes. Cross drilled=gross. Non 2 piece rotors=gross. Price=silly for what you get
6. Wheels that are hella flush with stretched tires
7. Almost forgot 99 spec tails, the round lights just don't look right.

1) Most aftermarket bodykits including JDM stuff. Come on guys, you don't have to have taken an industrial design class or something of that sort to realize that your messing up some beautiful organic lines when you put on a bulky front bumper/side skirt with boxy or bulgy features.

2) Replacements for the pop up head-lights: other than on the FC2000 I have yet to see a pair that don't look cheap, fit poorly and clash with the rest of the car.

3) Oversized wheels (on an FD this means 20's and maybe some really gaudy 19's). The car really looks best with 17's and 18's.

4) Rediculously overdone sound systems with more subs and amps than an entire city block needs.

Those are just my opinions, you don't have to agree.

I couldn't agree more one this; it's almost impossible to find a catback that looks stockish (besides RB) for under $1k. Forces most to buy a cannon style that just doesn't fit the car IMO.
