Popping sound from exhaust at idle???

Its hard to explain, but when my car is idling,if I go to the exhaust and listen it has a popping sound almost as if the timing is off or bad plugs and wires or something ( I already changed plugs and wires and it still does it). It sounds like a misfire? no check engine light. does any body understand or know what im talking about, im confused?

how long ago did you change your plugs and wires?

Any chance you could get a video or audio clip for us to listen to?

Is your car ported?

If you have anything but the stock exhaust, this is perfectly normal.

I have the same "problem" with my street ported engine. Have a look/listen to it here.

Can't you hear the popping from the exhaust? Or do you think that's normal?
The engine shakes a bit at idle. Runs pretty smooth when driving.

You will be even more crazy about it once you mod your car. I thought my car was ruined twice this month. LOL

macen, how warmed up is the car. I hear the popping now. That's pretty standard I believe for a rotary when it's not yet fully warmed. Mine does it in morning or on start-up but after temps go up it stops.

mine is quiet in idle, but it pops when i let off the gas quickly. I think mine is running a little rich too, the back of my bumper gets a bit of soot on it quickly.
