Horror stories? About what, replacing the injectors or difficulties tuning with the larger injectors? I was considering the 1600cc Bosch Injectors and Custom fuel rail from RX7Store for $410. Is that a good kit or should I only get 1300cc? I like the fact that the 1600cc are built 1600cc rather than being an overbored 850cc turned into a 1300cc. Also does anyone know about the old secondaries being cleaned and swapped in for my stock primaries?
I am at a loss for what to do, everyone seems to have conflicting theories. I know that I hit 100% Duty Cycle at .89bar which is however many pounds. 12.5 I think. But my car feels like it pulls really hard in 1st and 2nd but not as much in 3rd or 4th but those are the gears where I hit 100% so I assume that my excessively rich fuel is causing my car to run worse and make that damn sound. A backfire now and then is fine but this tommy gun sound has got to go. I need to have my entire system retuned. Everything from Timing, fuel, boost, etc... How much does KDR charge for a dyno-tune with a wideband?
I am going to replace my fuel filter, spark plugs, spark plug wires, injectors, gaskets, check valves, and my vacumn lines all at once to have my car ready for the dyno. Is there anything else to replace besides oil and gas before I go? I am going to install new pads and rotors because my car can't stop for **** after I am done racing but that is besides the point. I am also going to install new brake lines and clutch lines and bleed all my systems again to see if I can find any problems.
Who should I call for fuel injectors? How hard are they to replace? How much would KDR charge to replace them for me? Thanks, Scott

do it all yourself. its not hard to do at all. very easy. what kind of ecu do you have? the powerfc is where the problems lie with the 1600s. carson fischer had a fun time tuning them, i know that. they can be done right, i just dont think they are needed unless you are going with a gargantuous turbo like the gt 35/40 or t78 or t88 or whatever. if you arent then the 1300s are fine. i have been running 15 psi and my IDCs never raise that far up.

Scott:

I am currently in the middle of an injector upgrade (among other things since so much is apart now), I am opting for dropping my spare set of 850cc injectors into the primary spot.. so I will be running 4 x 850cc. There are two reasons I am doing this; first is as you mentioned I don't trust a 'bored' or 'modified' injector to operate reliably, and second is cost. I already had an extra secondary rail with injectors so I just sent all the injectors out for cleaning. I picked up a spare primary rail and had a machine shop mill off 3/16" off the top of the rail so the 850's fit snug without an extra o-ring on the bottom. This is plenty of fuel for my stock twins right now, and while you are at it install some SS fuel lines and AN fittings with an adjustable regulator. If you go single later on down the line then you can deal with the 1600's and the rail then, you don't need that much fuel on the twins.

the FAA approves modified injectors. i drill with a lot of guys that work in civilian aviation. they do in house injector boring and cleaning. they, as a matter of fact, told me that i was getting ripped by rc engineering. they said it is very easy and that i could come in one day and they would let me do it myself. its all up to you. i have no problem with it at all. mine run great. . . and so do other peoples.
