I don't know much about electrical stuff so I'd appreciate some advice on how to fix this.

Previous owner had installed an el cheapo HID kit (to a backyard mechanic obviously) and the end result is:
- Headlight come on even when the ignition is off, so when I pull up to my garage and take the key out, the lights are still on.
- When I highbeam at night the HID light cuts out and some weak yellowish light comes on, which is not brighter then park lights.
- When I try to highbeam during the day with the headlights off, the lights dont pop up, which means I can't highbeam.

Soon I'll go to a shop to have a proper HID kit installed which will fix the highbeam and lowbeam bulb problem. The shop is a proper electronics and car audio shop and they seem to know what they are doing. Do you think they can fix the light pop up and light on/ign off problem easily or do I have to download and take some electrical schematics of the RX7, buy some spare relays etc.?

 

sounds like you need to recheck the wiring of your headlights to see what changes have been made. if it helps any, my headlights don't pop up when i hit my highbeams during the day and i'm pretty sure my lights work properly. it would have been cool if mazda kept the flash to pass lights on the fd...

 

My MR2 pop-ups used to pop-up when I highbeamed during the day. I've read in past thread something about headlight not poping up but I wouldn't think that'd pass any countries safety standards.
