Pop off (relief) valve question

This is sort of a throwback to days gone by, but haven't seen much posted recently. With many of the boost control components (e.g., Greddy type s or II, etc.) of the RX7 operating such that if a hose blows off or fails, you get unlimited boost instantly (aka blown engine on occassion), why have pop off valves fallen out of favor as a fail-safe device for our car? Just curious.. .

I have no idea why nobody uses them. After I sold both my 3d gens I thought back and said if I ever got another that would be my first mod. I'd go ahead and get one asap
