Actually, I may need to go back and look now to verify. I ordered some replacement parts for the stock headlights when I installed my KS kit and I can't remember if I ordered new arms or not. It's been several years since I installed the kit.
I do remember that the kit reuses the stock motors.

Gordon may have mistaken some of the equipment for his HID version (early on) for motors, but the KS kit uses the stock motors.
We're all preaching from the same book are we not? KS = shortened arms which I would think comes with the kit. The evo-r ones = need a pivot controller or shortened arms, neither of which comes with the kit. As a matter of fact, you can't order the evo-r kit, at least not thru the website so that may have been the only kit available.

HATED the lighting. I had also had my car for about 8 years (at the time) so it was time for a make over and I felt that my sleeks would give my car an updated look (<---that was what made up my mind), plus it would give me a chance to upgrade the lighting.
Now if you don't feel the same about a "modern look" I saw stay popup and go sleepy with better lighting.

are the KS original or replica Gmonsen and mahjik? they look amazing btw
so either way it will mostly be for aesthetic purposes.
Ive seen fd's with non pop up lights and they look horrific, bubble covers? wtf? horrible fitment! and nevertheless bad lighting.
i guess its going to the wire on what i decide to do, but all your post have been very insightful
thanks for all the replies. and natey keep us posted on the evo-r/ebay kit
Sorry, but I just don't like the look of that. The entire car is rounded, including the front bumper lights, and then you add a rectangular sleepy light. Not good IMO. I know the stockers are rectangular also, but why not improve this when doing the upgrade?
I don't blame you the KS are pure hotness. Since I'm keeping my car till the day I die I just may purchase some and have them ready for whenever I feel like going retro.

I went with the RE-Amemiya kit. I like how they are flush with the body. I belive the evo's have a bubble in it. And then bought HID's, Xenon's for Amazon. The 2 head lights alone were $1,200. Still have to install the kit.

The Evo-R kit came today. From the looks of it, I'd say it's pretty much identical to the KS kit. Once I install them, I'll update with pics...and for the record, I'll definitely need to find someway to sleep-ify my pop-ups.
Packed well, got here quick, and the bulbs look pretty nice. I sure hope the cut-off is halfway decent.

Here are a few pics of the kit. If anyone wants different angles or hi-res or whatever just ask.
Pic # 3 is the inside of the shroud. Looks like fiberglass to me. It seems pretty strong to me...maybe f/g body kit quality..? I definitely wouldn't call it flimsy. One more thing to notice is all the bubble wrap and other packing material around...it was packed pretty damn well, IMO.
It'll probably be a few days until I either locate a Pivot controller or modify my stock h/l motors or arms. I'll post some installed pics ASAP.
