Polished Wheels

I notice some FD's have wheels which are shinny while mine isn't. Was this a dealer option or was it polished later.

Does it matter ?

If you find a set and you like them...they are going to fit.

Sorry for not being more clear. Was it available as an option for all FD years?

Mostly '93s

Don't see many on 94s or 95s.

FWIW, my '93 R1 came stock with the Chrome Wheels option. They looked great for about 2 years, and I quickly found that Indiana DOT salt solutions ate away the chrome plating during the winter months. I sold the chrome wheels to a very happy buyer from KS (where there's no snow or DOT salt), and I in turn bought SSR Integral A2s in 8 x 16, 38 mm offsets. Unbelievably, these were the only 8 x 16s I could find that were AS LIGHT as the stock FD wheels. The great thing about the SSR is the finish. They have a very thick clear coat which makes cleaning a snap. The coating is impervious to salt or any other harsh chemical that could be lurking out on our lovely public roads.

While the stock FD wheels do look great in chrome, I recommend you consider powder-coating your stock wheels in a bright silver. The powder coating is very durable and easy to clean. There are a few threads out on this forum regarding powder-coated stock wheels, so try doing a search.
