First check the vacuum hose to the map sensor, on the firewall next to the master cylinder.

Whats your Hg at idle? Just seems like some loose vacuum connections. Might even want to check your spark plugs.

so when you start the car, you have to keep the gas pedal down? Or is it when you deacell, the engine will cut? if its the second, check the dash pot.

MAP sensor is good guess. Also, your plugs may also be fouled too. When mine fouled out, it would do this for the first 30 seconds or so when cold.

Ok here are the details. When i try to start my car it starts easily but the engine seems to be at a very low power. And then if i press the accelerator and release it the exhaust gives sparks and the car shuts down. Also i can see a lot of white smoke coming out of the exhaust. Somebody pointed out that it can be flooded. If yes how can i de-flood it? also can it be spark plugs or a loose vacuum hose?(Just checked the HG on my boost gauge and it is close to 0) Plz helpppppp!

Quick summary:

1) Check your MAP sensor/hoses.

2) Look for disconnected vacuum lines in the engine bay and listen for any unusual noises while you are there.

3) Check all of your spark plug wires and pull the plugs to check their condition. A flooded engine would have fuel on the plugs themselves.

4) Check coolant levels and condition. Is it low or does it have oil in it?

5) Sparks from the tailpipe....do you have a cat or not? Sounds like you are pushing a lot of unburned fuel through the exhaust, so maybe the plugs/wires might be a good first point to focus on.

Provide more information:

engine mileage
recent maintenance/mods/other recent problems

Good luck.

Map sensor is connected. Cant see any disconnected vacuum lines in the engine compartment. Coolant level is fine and no oil in it. Modifications are:
1.Intake
2.cat-back

Mileage is around 35000.

Any idea????????

Change your plugs and maybe your wires and see if that helps. If not, you should run a compression test and make sure you didn't break an apex seal or something. It sounds like one of your rotors is not firing for some reason.
