Not Implying
No, I am not implying anything. I am stating what everyone knows but like to pretend means something else when they get called on it.
Referring to something as Ghetto Rice implies that it is something seen in minority neighborhoods. And a logical process of elimination will tell you who that minority group they are referring to is…
Since he didn’t say Barrio Rice, and since we are not talking about middle age Europe, that leaves me to conclude that he is probable referring to African-Americans as the term has been used for the last 40-50 years.
Besides, it does not really matter which group he is disparaging, what it really comes down to is that this is a forum about cars that we all enjoy - where does insulting another race or person fit into that?
If a person is going to make racist statements they might as well come all the way out of the closet and bring their sheets with them.
bar·ri·o (bä'rē-ō', băr'-)
n., pl. -os.
1. An urban district or quarter in a Spanish-speaking country.
2. A chiefly Spanish-speaking community or neighborhood in a U.S. city.
[Spanish, from Arabic barrī, of an open area, from barr, open area.]
ghet·to (gĕt'ō)
n., pl. -tos or -toes.
1. A section of a city occupied by a minority group who live there especially because of social, economic, or legal pressure.
2. An often walled quarter in a European city to which Jews were restricted beginning in the Middle Ages.
3. Something that resembles the restriction or isolation of a city ghetto: “trapped in ethnic or pink-collar managerial job ghettoes” (Diane Weathers).

It's funny to me how things over the last decade have changed and how the focus went from the performance to the look of racing. Look how well companies like APC, Tenzo R and OBX that sell the look not the performance have done.
I also find it interesting how many of the people who are in the industry and in this forum now were not even driving back then.
In the early 90's we used to race civics and integras and hell if someone ran a high 14 in the 1/4 HOLY CRAP that was fast. This is when 16" rims were HUGE! 5Zigen DIV 3, Work RS Beta, Fins, Bang Vec, SSR type X, Mugen RSR how many people on this forum actually remember these.
Remember "we," import racers looked to Japan for all of our influences. Performace in Import cars was unheard of and we had to fight to earn respect of domestics.
Now how can a car like Tom Ngo's be considered anyting but rice. In fact that car is an insult to everything that the FD stands for.
Who ever posted pictures of the D Speed FD remember that car was built in the early 90's when Supra wings were cool. It's old...look at D.Speed designs now they have changed.
As far as RE's pink car that thing is also old. And remember this is RE...we all wish we could have our cars perform like any of his cars.
Yea as you can tell I'm from the older school of modifying. Those of you who remember my car know that I was very very much influenced by Japanese performance.
No one in the US had as much KnightSport or HKS products as I had in my car nor changed Volk rims as much as I did. Some may flame me but I bet that the ones who see it my way are the ones who have been doing this for years and have owned and modified many different import car.
Well that's my rant. I don't even know if it makes sence but I dislike ricers and I feel sad watching the industry change.

Someone should take a poll on exactly what constitutes "rice." Personally, I think NPT's are rice, pertaining to that, anything inspired by or derived from either of the Fast and Furious movies is 100% rice.
Some kid in a civic told me I should get a boost controler and raise the boost, I told him it would hurt my poor, stock engine. Then he told me I should just 'weld the intake'

once time i was in my driveway with a friend and we had both our Rx-7's parked in front of my house. some kid rolls up in a civic, and says, "HEY NICE CARS!! YOU GUYS GOT NAWS???" and we said 'nope dont need it...' and the kid says, "You should put some MUGEN parts on here, **** YA!" and we told him to **** off and he did a shitty little tire chirp burnout and left

This is a sick-*** car. http://www.mferry.com/030503/pages/DSC03008.htm
While I don't believe in Non-performance upgrades on serious performance cars. I am a huge hot-rod fan. And no, I don't mean just pushrod powered muscle cars and ford T-buckets.
A "hot-rod" is any vehicle, largely for show, that has lots of power and looks like it's going very fast when it's just standing still. Classic hotrod type stuff should be done to import show cars more often. One of the sweetest looking cars I've ever seen was a chopped nissan silvia. And who can deny the awesome look of painted on flames and shaved handles.
Just my $.02

Alright.. For this car to look nice a lot more than just takin off the vinyl has to happen.. The wheels have got to go.. And the wing on this thing.. WTF is that.. It looks like the back end of a vette.. givin i dont mind the wing itself but the stupid plates off to the side.. wut is that. And if he was going to spend all the cash on this car at least he could of had the plate things molded onto his car better than they are if they are at all.. then we have the double triple power headlights at the bottom.. haha.. yea everyone needs reg. lights, the c west lights, and then more lights...Then the neons.. Im not even gona go into this..... Ahh.. im sry.. but i cant stand this car....
