Oh and I would agree, neons in my opinion dont belong on a 7, at all unless its just an all out show car.

First of all, I'm against defacing 7's. But........
I don't think that silver car is that bad
I think if you took all the stickers off that car, that it would be real tight.
Second, I'm not totally against under neons. Is that bad? I think if the under-neon is on a totally done(tastefully mind you) car , that it's ok. I don't know, maybe i'm crazy.

"functional aerodynamic parts"? I strongly doubt any of his body kits were as extensively wind-tunnel tested as the original design. I even doubt REAmemiya does any wind tunnel testing at all.

after all, he IS in the business to make money right??
Yeah, making money from ricers.

and his cars DO attract your attention right??
I'm not a ricer, they don't attract my attention.

enough said.
Amen.

On the subject of rice, check my sig. That wing is result of a ricer that was two owners before me.

So why don't you get rid of it? You can get a used stock wing for little over $100, and that thing is disgusting.

guess i didn't say "enough" to get that reply....
hmmmm, somewhat of a valid point regarding the wind tunnel testing.
but if the car can go almost 200mph and not fall apart, obviously something due to aerodynamics works.
admittedly i didn't say ALL the stuff is functional; ie. porsche lights and a convert.; but most of it IS race proven with wins to back it up. REAL racing on REAL tracks, not racing around traffic cones in a parking lot.
i don't think anyone can say that's "rice".
and if you really do have a veilside wing.... now that's soooo '90's. "rice" in other words.
"ricers" DON'T buy Amemiya products.
and by the looks of your sig., you definitely don't know how to maintain your vehicle. so how could you sit in front of that computer of yours and profess to say what's what on the Amemiya subject with a veilside wing double sticked to your trunk??
i think you'd better lay off of flaming me since i don't believe that i'm alone on this subject.

Wind-tunnel testing is extremely expensive to do.. Renting out time in a tunnel can run in excess of thousands and thousands of dollars a day.. As such, it is prohibitively expensive for pretty much everyone except companies affiliated with manufacturers.. such as Mazdaspeed or AMG, or TRD.. However.. Amemiya does track test their parts. This is a slower process and definately not as precise as the controlled / computerized environment that a wind tunnel offers, but it does work to find out if parts will offer faster lap times, aero balance, etc.. There are a lot of other body shops out there that dont even track test their stuff.. so perhaps you should direct some criticism towards them..

Yeah, making money from ricers.

Most ricers I know couldnt even begin to afford Amemiya stuff... and most FD owners I've encountered like Amemiya stuff.. Whatever the case.. everybody is in it to make money.. Whether or not it be from ricers or from anyone else..

I'm not a ricer, they don't attract my attention.

Maybe they don't attract your attention.. but then again if you're not going to be buying it, then who cares..

The fact is, they do track test their stuff, they do attract attention, they do sell a product, and if you dont like it, dont buy it. simple..

oh and about that wing.. if youre not a ricer, dont make excuses for it.. you can always take the wing off.. its not rocket science...

duchi, as much as I agree with what u are saying, arguing over this kind of stuff with those kind of people wont get anything done. Rice means something different to each individual.
Anyway, as far as the whole "functional" bit, it doesnt take a genius to understand how a widebody helps, and how those huge fugly wings actually help. Maybe it's never seen a wind tunnel, but use your brain it should - and does -- make a difference. Sure a normal FD will probably never go fast enough to benefit from those "rice" mods, but trashing RE, and his cars is just ridiculous.

I am sure none of his parts aren't "functional" that's why many cars have been close to and over 200mph with his aero stuff. True their not wind tunnel tested but show me how "functional"
Veilside is.

Yeah, making money from ricers.

As said, not to many "ricers" can afford $1,000 front ends, wings, etc. Show me a "ricer" that uses RE Amemiya aero goods...

On the subject of rice, check my sig. That wing is result of a ricer that was two owners before me.

Again if it pisses you off so much than take it off.

I realize as I said before everyone has their own opinion of what "rice" is but let's not confuse something you think is "ugly" as being ricey...

Have any of you read or understood the fourth post on page three? Arguing over opinions is rediculous, because everyone has their own. If you honestly care about how I judge a ricer, then you can either flame or take that worthless crap off of your car. Like I've said before: "To me, rice = NPT". This means that I think ALL cosmetics are rice, no matter how expensive they are. You people are just evidence that "ricers" are victims of other people's opinions. I have better things to do than argue, but there are a few topics I would like to touch upon.

duchi
i think you'd better lay off of flaming me since i don't believe that i'm alone on this subject.
The reason you think I'm flaming you, is because you're offended by my opinion of what a ricer is, and you as well as a few others became defensive. In reality, however, I did not intend to flame.

On the topic of body kits helping performance... Get real. Unless you are actually replacing body panels with lightweight materials like aircraft aluminum, fiberglass, or carbon fiber, you will be hurting performance. The stock body will withstand just as much, if not more than the most expensive dress-up you can find. In other words, if REAmemiya reduced the weight, then I wouldn't consider it rice. It's still borderline, however, because you can get far more performance for far less money with engine mods (e.g. ECU, porting, turbos, IC, etc.).

On the topic of wings... On a RWD or AWD car, a wing will help keep the rear tires on the ground. However, the amount of downforce my wing creates is too much for its flimsy design. At speeds above 80mph the wing begins to wobble and it makes an irritating pulsing sound. If a wing is making that much downforce then it needs center re-inforcement like an aluminum drag wing.

95R2-89TII Ground Zero
I say let people put what they want to on their own cars, who is to judge that...but just make yours that way you want it....and in your mind, you always have the better car.
Damn straight.

Now on to my C1 wing... As I see it, I have three options:
A) Replace the C1 wing with a stocker
B) Remove the wing, plug the holes, and repaint
C) Get a new hatch
D) **** it, I only care about how the car performs.

Currently, I'm choosing option (D), but I still wish it wasn't there. Besides, if I take it off, then my nice-*** car cover won't fit properly.

Ok ok... I give in... The pink RE Amemiya 7 is not EXACTLY rice....but it is gay and japanese so that is quasi-rice

I don't mean to jump on you but I'm wondering why a Pink RE Amemiya rx7 convertible with the porsche conversion is rice?

Everyone has their own definition of rice but come on now that car is well built, everything lines up nicely and alot of effort went into that car. Not to mention I'm sure it's got engine mods done to it.

Rice to me is a honda with cut springs rollin on "bling" hub caps(snap and shines) with 50 stickers on it and a chrome fire extingisher mounted on the passenger side a-pillar.

Tom Ngo's car is rice..(It has/had a mugen sticker on it for christ sakes)

Oh well like I said everyone has their own opinions I guess..

Let me get this straight.... It's Japanese so that's grounds for calling something rice? Wow...that's a first.
