Exclamation Please tell me what else i should fix while in the area

Im in the middle of doing my gasket matching of the UIM and replacing vacume lines. While i have the car in shambles, what other parts should i replace??
I'm changing the check valves but what other items should i know about, any sensors etc.?

I want the car completley over hauled so i dont have to do it again soon. I am having secondary boost probs so that is oe of the reasons for the work.
Give part #'s also if you know them from possibly changing the part yourself at one point.

check you fpd (fuel pulsation dampner) and make sure it is not leaking fuel. Its an easy fix and a good thing to keep you eye on if you don't already smell it. I just resently replaced mine. just a suggestion

The list is long, if you have the $$ to cover them all:
- FPD replacement
- injector cleaning, o-rings and grommet replacement

For your boost problem, there are several solenoids that could be the problem.
- Turbo Control #1 N3A1-18-741 $55
- Turbo Control #2 N390-18-741 $55
- Charge Control 1480-13-240A $53
- Charge Relief 1480-13-240A $53 * (the one on the top front of the rack - not hard to get to later).

New check valves, hoses, and solenoids won't guarantee a fix (could be actuators) but they will be great insurance against future problems. Many people have paid a mechanic hundreds in labor to solve a boost issue - it might not be a silly idea at all.

The wastegate and precontrol pair (N3A1-20-285) are easy to get to so I didn't list them.

Other parts of note: the water thermoswitch is easily replaced with the Miata version, and if you buy some silicone self-fusing tape you can rewrap your engine harness and improve its life. The tape is great stuff and you can find it at McMaster-Carr.

I recommend using a Mityvac to test the actuators, as well as any solenoids you don't replace.

WOW, thanx dgeesaman! I dont mind spending the coin, rather get it done right the first time. Should all of these be changed or you just mentioning whats under the hood? Are some more common for malfuncuning then others.
I guess there is no way of checking them to see if they are working is there?
*EDIT* use a mighty vac to test, how is this done?

Those solenoids are the ones that control the turbos - all of them are prone to failure, only some of them are hard to change without removing the UIM. TC1, TC2, and CC solenoids are the ones that are hard to get to later.

You need to read the autosportracetech turbo troubleshooting site and section F of the factory service manual. It's all in there. And run some searches.
