please tell me there's a stud there... help!

I was working on my FD today and had a friend helping me here and there. He was tightening a small nut from the turbo to y-pipe, and sheared the fastener. Does he owe me a new turbo or a shiny new (very inexpensive) stud?

I about **** when i saw it. Anyway, i was taking pictures but didn't take one of the sheared fastener in my fit of rage i guess. But this picture you can see the one I'm talking about. If anyone can help me figure this out, i would really appreciate it. Thanks in advance.

I would see if you could get a new Turbo out of him. Tell him you want a TO4s single turbo, manifold and DP for snapping off that 6mm stud.

haha yeah, I figured I would get a few responses like that... That was my poor attempt at humor. But it is a stud, that's good news thank you. Know where i can find one? I checked Mazdatrix earlier, they have a good selection of studs (the reason I was working on my car to begin with) but I didn't see a 6mm.

NEVER let a friend help with exhaust. years ago when i had my fc my friend wanted to help put on my rb header and he broke a stud. it had an exhaust leak from then on up until i sold it because i was too lazy to ever fix it. same friend i let borrow my civic while i was unemployed and it developed an exhaust leak, we had a blizzard and the roads were rough for weeks. that resulted in gvetting worse and worse until it eventually broke in 1/2 and dumped out the header from then until i sold it. he never admited he caused it.

It's more boost than exhaust in my situation, but I understand what you're saying. It's funny, a guy at the shop says to me today, "Bet you never let anyone else's hands under that hood!". I just laughed and said, "That's right.". I'm a jackass

letting friends work on your car is bad on so many levels. unless you have a friend thats competent, i just never had that luxury. but i dont blame you those things are gay to reach i would totally have let someone else do it if they wanted to. but to replace one of those studs...i think i would just sell the car almost

I'm going to take the nut to any old hardware store tomorrow and get the thread pitch, and probably just make a new stud. Unless someone knows where i can get one over the internet. Makes my life so much easier... except cutting a few threads isn't really hard... anyway where can I find one?

As far as selling the car... I don't think anyone would want it with the sweet elephant-style, squeeking trunk boost leak I picked up on a crazy night in tijuana
