I searched, I only found reasons on why the FD is meant to be driven.

I'm gunna go to Pomona for the import drags, and I want to drive my FD. This'll be the first time I do a long distance drive on her. I got about 400 miles before my next 2k oil change.

Basically, I just want some see some reassurance that its ok to do a 300+ mile drive. Whats your experinces on this.

Bone stock, btw. 10-8-10 boost.

Yes. When I bought my FD I drove it 1,000 miles from Florida to here, and it was great. Trips seem much shorter in the FD.

as long as your car is in good working order, you should not have any problems. for a little peace of mind, you might want to add some Marvel Mystery Oil to your gas tank, but it is not absolutely necessary.

I have made several 1000+ mile round trip drives in mine and never had a problem. I don't know if I would be trusting enough to run it at a drag strip that is 300 miles from home but that is up to you.

Questions like this crack me up. 300 miles is a long drive?

I sold a 93 R1 to a guy from Virginia, I live in Oregon. He made the ~2800 mile drive in 43 hrs driving solo.

Change the oil before, just to make it run a little better.

Yea, trips in the FD arn't that bad....Thank God for cruise control!!!

Oh and theres no way I'm gunna do that long of a drive and then race my FD. I'm crazy but not a dumbass lol.

I use protek-r, cause it makes me feel good to btw. And I think I might go and do the oil change.

But damn, 1000+ miles would easily scare the **** out of me. I dont think I could comprehend that. You guys got *****.

This'll be my first pro-import drag event I'll attend, or any pro-drag event at that. So I'm pretty psyched.

Well it is a car, cars are ment to be driven!!! i suggest changing the oil before you go though.

I would love to go driving that far but its only ~100 miles around this little island I'm on and the traffic is unbearable (I always seem to hit it, and not in the good way hehe)!

I would highly suggest you getting a DP already though. again you might as why? and again I would reply why not!

Hehe, gotta love the cruise control. At one point I contemplated eliminating it, until I actually tried it. Makes long trips SO much more relaxing. I think the FD likes long trips better than short trips, helps burn off carbon.

long trips in the 7 are easy. i did a 400 mile trip in my 94 touring with 116k in original turbo and engine with eaise

I drove 2400 miles in mine once. I have taken a number of trips to places 120, 160, 200, 360, and 500 miles away to drive it on a track. Okay, so that isn't too bright, but the car is pretty nice for long trips. Cruise control is wonderful for long trips.

Just make sure you take your wallet out of your back pocket! Or you'll be hurting after about 100 miles.

I made a 2400 miles round trip with mine earlier this year; it wasn't bad, except for my back. Those seats don't have much lumbar support.

I drive from Boston to KD Rotary (in PA.), and back again on the same day, at least 5 times a year. I don't know the exact milage, but it takes roughly 5 hours(at about 80, with no traffic). I've done it in 4 1/2, but I went 90 and 100 mph the whole drive. It was a little scary( because of the Police factor), but I did it. They don't mess around in NY. I let some guy in a Mustang past(I was already doing 85mph), came over the next rise, and there were two brand new police Camaro SS's leaving rubber to go after the guy!
Basically, it's a long drive. The car does fine, and I never use cruise control. I'm always pushing a little to make some time up.

I drove from Arkansas to New Mexico with no cruise (R1). FDs are incredibly comfortable cars for long drives (if you remove your wallet like paw140 said).

I did 1400miles in 19 hours straight...all stock...the only thing I can think of is to take extra coolant, and oil for top offs...then if you don't already have an aluminum AST it would be good to take one with you just cuz you can't pick up and 93-95 RX7 ast at PepBoys...other than that, drive with confidence dood!

I've driven my R1 (that's *no* cruise control, boys) from the OK/TX area to NJ roundtrip three times.

Most recently I went from Fort Hood to Atlanta (929 miles)in one day and from Atlanta to Morristown NJ (861 miles) the next. The FD just eats up the miles, and half the fun is preying upon unsuspecting V8s....I always leave a trail of kills laying all along the highway when I make the crosscountry trips

As previously stated, cruise control is for wimps Just take off your shoes and wedge your leg between the center hump and the pedal. Of course you have to be careful not to cut off circulation to your foot but otherwise that works great.

Cruise control is unnecessary. I'll agree with the above comment on removing your wallet though! Man did I learn that the hard way. There is no way to do it once you are actually driving. The worst was the horribly rough roads we have here in WI riding on stock R1 suspension and 18" rims

Well, I guess I'm a wimp, cause I'll definitly be using CC on this trip Sunroof and CC was a must, so I chose the touring.

Yup, I got the pettit ast seating in my engine. R. mods first right . But I don't have the dp just yet. Soon, thats what everyone says.
