Please Need Help Asap!!! Problem With Car

Ok my car was fine, never had any problems with it, i went in to the store, come back out and the juice is dead, powerFC reads bat. is 9.0v and dying, normal volts is usually 13.9V..... I got someone to juice me up with cables, while i was driving, i was hearing a loud whistling noise, coming from the front of the car, possiblly the front speaker, my dvd player, kept coming on and off and reseting itself, when it turned off, the whistling noise cut off, so i arived at my distination and cut the car off and now im stuck, im trying to turn the car back on but the car wouldnt start, the juice is back down to 7V. and when i crank it, all the lights are really dim, and eventually dies down, im thinking my dvd player has a short in it, i dont know, what do u guys think, its 10:30pm and im stuck here and cant get my damn car started.... thanks for all the help.... I want to pull the dash apart and pull the player out and see wtf is wrong with my car, but its dark and i dont really know what to look for, anyone help me out please, appreciate all the help!!!!

Or battery. If you can get a good battery, it should give you about 60 miles to get home and then have the alternator tested.

But be sure any unneeded electrical items are off.

I think most autoparts stores can test the alt. If you have a multimeter you can check out how much voltage it's putting out.

if he was the alternator, how much would it run to get it replaced or fixed?? I tried cranking it this morning, but it was dead, the battery voltage ran from 9.5 down to 8.3 and back to 9.5 and back and foward.... my turbo timer kept blinking and beeping also.... WTF????

i just jumped my car, the turbo timer is dead, wont even come on, the bat. volt. is back up to 13.9-14.0 (normal voltage) but the dvd player is still acting strange, weird noises come out the front end when its on, and its cuts off and on on its own....

Getting a refurbished alternator at your local auto parts store should be fairly cheap, although as others have stated, you need to check it first; your battery could be on its last legs (how old is it?) and not holding a charge.

DVD players need a lot of voltage to work properly; anything below that amount and they usually start acting weird.
