I think that it is a freon collection cylinder, but I can't remember.

yep part of ac syste.. i think the technical name is "dryer"...basically the freon storage container...

It`s the aircon dryer. And it does just what the name implies. Takes any moisture out of the Freon. Freon is compressible, water is not. The little glass window on top of it is so you can veiw the Freon as it is flowing and see if there are any air bubbles in the Freon.

what type of intake pipe is that? where did you get it? is there a matching lower intake pipe for the other turbo?

That's the hard intake pipe kit from rx7fashion. The previous owner installed it. Yes, they've got stainless steel for both upper and lower, unfortunately he just replaced the upper one.
