please help im lost

im now looking for a car to buy and im really thinking about getting an rx-7 i found online the only problem is my friends who know alot more about cars than me keep telling me that an rx-7 is a waste of money and that the amount of money that i spend buying one would buy me a much better car. they also keep telling me that if something happens to my rx-7, which they say is likely, that ill have to find someplace that can actually do nething to a rotary without messing it up and im kind of in a pinch since i really dont know what car i should get although i would love an rx-7. any opinions or help on this matter would really help me out, thanks in advance.

I have to admit, after reading through the forums here that an RX7 does seem more like a project/weekend car. If you have the money to spend on one make sure you have a little money saved on the side to fix anything that goes wrong. Esspecially early on when you don't know if anything is wrong with it. Yes they can be a very reliable car, if you baby them and take extremely good care of them. The looks you will get will more than make up for the expense of mantainance. Plese read more before you decide. Oh, and for everyone else on the forum. The SEARCH is your friend, use it like a teacher.

Read the FAQ at the top of the page!
FD are great cars, lots of fun, and head turners.
Do alot of research on them BEFORE you buy one.
They are as reliable as you make them, but expect to rebuild a totally stock motor well before 100k.
The more mods and power you force them to make, the shorter the lifespan of the engine.
Do get to know your local rotary specialist, they may end up being your best friend.
Else be prepared to do all your work yourself(most of us do).
READ THE FAQ!
Do have a beater car when your FD breaks down, and it WILL someday, though many people use their FD's as daily drivers.
Be prepared for the jealousy of other drivers on the road

For the money, I don't think you'll be able to find a better sports car. Many of use take very good care of our FD's, but not necessarily baby them. It's just TOO MUCH FUN to drop the hammer now and then.

Listen to your friends; and when you're thinking about having "alittle" money saved up just in case - double that.....no, triple that. Plus another daily driver is a must.
