Please Help!?! I don't want to have to sue!!!

I bought my 3rd gen RX-7 15 months ago with 68K on the odometer a transmission that was about 300 miles old, and a third party warranty that covered everything but the exhaust. in the following 14 months, I put 20K very happy miles on it. I never raced it, never abused it or even burned the tires. I would take it on long road trips and maybe to work a few times, but I've got two cars and you don't play with your toys all the time or you break them. a month ago, my 2nd gear syncro, over the course of a couple weeks, went bad and the 1st to 2nd shift would always grind. I took the car to the dealership (they had already done work with the warranty company prior without a hitch) for warranty repair. they diassmbled the tranny and my warranty company sent out an inspector. the inspector came back to the warranty company and said that the syncro had gone out due to excessive wear and tear!!! I was flabbergasted, so I called the dealership and talked to the service rep and the mechanic who worked on the car. they told me that there had been a lot of metal in the transmission fluid, pressumably because a part had failed and started falling apart, and that the metal in the fluid is what caused the syncro to wear down so quickly. so I called back the warranty company and plead my case, only to be greated with what can olny be descibed as a hand in the face. I'm getting a faxed copy of the warranty inspectors report, and a written statement from the service guy and mechanic from the dealership, AND the paperwork from the transmission work 22K ago, but I"m still worried.

is there anything else I should do? is there a part this is known to fail that I could maybe single out as the cause? any help at all would be apprciated. I have a feeling that I'll be in small claims court before the year is up...
