Please help this car is killing me!

Hi guys,

Just need some advice.. Have just had a Series 8 2000 Rx7 rebuilt (engine and turbos) and although the tacho is not bouncing its idle is very rough and out of no where it coughs and splutters under acceleration for some reason. The coughing and spluttering appears completely random and it feels like the car wants to stall sometimes, but then is fine at others... ie the problem comes and goes.

Also, do Rx's still need to be warmed up or is this no longer recommended? Please help as this car is causing me so much grief... I simply dont know what to do ! A dream car that is fast ruining peoples lives !!!

Is it an automatic transmission or a manual? It sounds like a vac leak, but if it's auto, it could easily be the transmission failing.

All rotaries need to be warmed up. From the 8A R100 to the 13B-MSP RX-8. There's no reason not to warm up your rotary.

Advice: Take it back and have the issues addressed by the mechanic!

Thanks for the quick response.. It's an automatic. I am just **** scared these hesitations will upset the computer and in turn upset the engine and break a seal. Goodness only knows if this is possible , but I do not want another broken seal after only 100km on a new engine !

As for warming it up, is it simply drive it carefully or is it leave it in the drive way to warm up. I left it in the drive and warmed it up and within three days the car would not start. Removing the spark plugs revealed them to be totally black.

Once cleaned the car started no problems, but as I said previously, it hesitates and coughs and splutters at random times!!!!

Sorry to have to ask all these questions, but I have no idea what to do next ... You would not think a car could bring a 37 year old to his knees.... My series II which I had for 14 years prior was awesome..

Thank you in advance
