Pilot bearing puller
Hey guys,
I just thought I'd throw this tidbit up here... The loaner tool they have at Advance Auto Parts worked perfectly for taking out the pilot bearing, and even better it was free .

I've used that one too. I had to grind down the "fingers" a bit to get it to fit, but it was pretty close. The tool might vary a little from region to region.

Anyone try filling the pilot bearing with grease, then taking a dowel rod the size of the opening and hitting it with a hammer. The grease should push the pilot bearing out.

i prefer just using the loaner tool to save the mess, worked well enough that i didn't return it.

I've used the advance one before... broke 3 of them, lol. I ended up getting the atkins rotary one. It works great! I use it pretty often at my shop, even works for dowel pins if you unthread the pilot bearing atachment! IMO, the atkins one is totally worth the one hundred whatever it costs.
