Pictures of my destroyed stock turbo manifolds

This is what 13 years of heat and abuse will do to these things, no wonder I was barely making any boost and had an exhaust leak. check out the cracks inside the turbo by the wastegate, and the monster gashes on the turbo manifold to exhaust manifold iron. WOW is all I can say, glad I bought a new set of twins lol

yep....seen that before, although those are pretty bad....how many miles?

ceramic coating is absolutely required, and I believe going non-sequential and hogging out the manifold probably helps control "hot spots" as well

75k miles....

I just converted my new set to non-sequential, although I didn't get them coated. I'm just going to use this new set until they take a crap, then I'm probably going to go single or atleast send in a newer core to BNR for a stage III rebuild.

LOL I'm still running a set like that on my car, a little sluggish off the primary (I can get a nickel in the same large web you have pictured on the primary) but they are still making 12 to 14 psi over all, no smoking, and I have no pills in either of the vacuum lines going to the precontrol and wategate actuators. I'll deffinately be porting my waste gate on the next set to go in the car. Mine have 95k on them.

Cracks aren't that big of a deal. The top crack in the first picture is the only worrisome one - that one looks to be getting under the gasket sealing surface, which can cause the gasket to fail.

Big thing to remember is the exhaust gas couldn't care what it looks like. As long as it seals up, it'll work.

The main reason I took them off is because I wasn't getting and boost and I had an exhaust leak obviously from those huge cracks on the turbo manifold to exhaust manifold area.

Those turbos have definitely seen better days lol
