That's kinda strange... that your car is an RZ when it had the older style front bumper... without the 99 lights yet you have the rear lights..but you have the BBS 17's ?!?! ....but then, you can never tell sometimes with Japan.. they mix and match a lot of the features. Eg. My car is a 92 R1 but I got the 265 hp motor v.s the 255 ... and I know about 5 other guys who's cars are around the same age as mine and they got the 255 hp motor and non of the goodies like the front strut, stiffer shocks etc.. and one guy got a 97 with the new bumper and rear lights but not the 280 hp motor..he got the 265 RS motor ?!?!
Weird I tell ya...but I've never actually seen a black RZ ..only white.
Car looks nice.

96 rz is 280 bhp not 265 the rz is the top of the range rx7. It's the light weight model 0-62 mph 4.9 secs as standard. You should not take your car past 4.5 rpm when running it in. Neither should you apply heavy boost while running it in. I know it's hard but it's whats best for your engine. After 500 miles of running your engine in your should get the oil changed. and car should be takend back to garage that did the work for them to check for leaks etc and make sure all is well. Which garage did your engine ?? cause they should of given you this advise. The most important thing to how long a rotary engine will last is based on how it's been run in. which company did you buy it from with a knackered engine ??
Also now matter how good a driver you are be very careful in the wet, especially at round abouts.
I imported one a few months ago. When i was gonna get my esva done i drobve it on the motorway, but because the car was not yet registered, i had no number plates so had great fun driving through all the cameras at high speed without having to worry about a ticket. I'll post my pictures up next week. I've just had a bodykit fitted, so i'll post before and after pictures of my black rex onthis thread.
oh well happy motoring rich.
Regards
Brian

Hi, cheers for the comments, I'm on the FDUK list as well, just don't post many messages!!
From my research I believe that the 96-98's top spec are 265bhp and only the 98- RX's have 280bhp (different turbos and mapping I think?)
With the running in, by the time I got it it had about 400 miles on the new engine, all under 4k rpm (having been driven back from WGT, where the engine was rebuilt).
The oil was changed when the garage I bought it from (Magnum Motors in Farnborough) had it MOT'd, just before I bought it. I gradually increased the max revs I used by 1000rpm/100miles, until I reached 1000miles on the new engine (as per the instructions on the warranty from WGT).
The car only came into the country last December, and was sent to WGT after it wouldn't pass the SVA emmisions. They found that the side seals had gone (end plates?) and said that it needed a full rebuild. The garage agreed to pay whatever it cost for a new engine, so I got an even better deal,as I didn't have to pay any extra!! I just had to wait about 6 weeks for it!! It was worth it!
I have had a 3k mile oil and filter change and just had a 6k full service at GPA/REWorx, and its still running sweet!
As for driving in the wet....hehehe!! It certainly keeps you on your toes, but its all good fun!

Rich.

Sounds good Rich. Geff at gpa is a good guy. He got my car through esva. I saw that car forsale at magnum motors before, i remember it now. Well good of them to take care of the engine and stuff. I hate driving in the wet i'm always below 3,500 rpm. I just picked mine up on saturday from havingthe bodykit fitted. The car looks awsome. I should have pictures up sometime this week.
Oh well happy fd'ing.
