porting is like an art because it's requires molding in 3d and it takes alot of errors and trials to get a successful port design.

pineapple aparently thinks they have a superior port design that no one has so wants to keep it in house.

i can understand where they coming from. Just like the KDR thing going on. If you want just a standard port most are simillar.

also pineapple wouldn't give me any measurements of the port to assist steve kan in tuning the car, which pissed me off...

i paid for the port, how stupid is it for me to want it tuned correctly and them to refuse details?

you can take 1.3L of air and push it out a circle, a square, a triangle, etc....certain shapes will provide different flow characteristics...there's the secret
Such as venturis.

However, while velocity is not necessarily tied to the amount you are able to flow - it's ability to impart force on another object is directly tied to the mass of the air you ARE able to flow.

I could see venturi designs having great effects on a turbos ability to "breathe" at high rpms but not necessarily on the ability to spool faster.

Anyone else? Ron?

Also, where is the pineapple engine? Have they sent it back yet or compensated?

It could have an effect on the turbo spool, but I think the problem would be the compromises you would have to make in order to produce higher intake velocity at lower rpms (hence assisting turbo spool), i.e. a longer venturi-- combined with the right port shape and timing-- would assist intake velocity at lower rpms, but would hinder high rpm breathing and vice versa.

Is there any benefit to chroming/coating the exterior of the engine pieces aside from asthetics?

It looks awesome...

urethane does not conduct heat very well, nor is it used as an insulator, there are different grades of powders you can buy depending on the application, this issue was addressed when selecting a powder
